Forums - Gaming - Gears of War VS Resistance: Fall of Man - Graphics Comparison!

Uncharted looks better than Gears. Resistance looks about equal to Gears from the two screenshots given. I don't really like Gears though. The soldiers look and act just like bulkier Sam Fisher clones, and although the scene in the picture above for Gears is well-lit making it look better, most of the game actually takes place in dark environments where you can't really tell if the graphics are good or not...most of them don't impress me much more than the last gen XBOX game Max Payne, and for some reason the makers of Gears thought that the fact that they could get a significant portion of their game to only use 2 colors -- black and white -- was a wise artistic decision which I don't find to be the case.

Also, do you notice how in the picture of Resistance shown above features  a close-up detailed image of the enemy that you are fighting?  Gears never does that.  You never see any of the Locust very clearly in Gears except for a few of the bosses.

Gears is obviously a better looking game (and still considered by some to be THE best looking game this gen). I would hope so, since Resistance is a launch game. A better comparison would be Perfect Dark: Zero vs. Resistance.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Yeah I'd go with Gears too. The whole atmosphere and style in the game just seems better.

Gears looks better. But I hope both games put a little bit more color into this time around....

You just pissed away any credibility for a non biased comparison with that statement...

We have seen this comparison between Gears of War Vs Resistance: Fall of Man been done many times before in the past.

I wonder how Gears of War 2 Vs Resistance 2 showdown will turn out on a graphics comparison between the two games when they face off in November?

Gears definetly looks better. It seems to have more textures (at least they're more shiny) and better lighting.

I think about the only area Resistance wins is in clarity, It looks a bit sharper and clearer then Gears Of War.

No, I didn't.  The reasons I list above contribute greatly to the reasons that I don't like Gears.  If Gears didn't do the things that I mention that I don't like about the game, then I would like it better.

I wonder how many of these Gears heads that seem to enjoy the game so much have played Uncharted or Resistance in their entirety.  I've played Gears right up to final boss to see if I could find anything great about it, and there really wasn't that much.  Maybe the rush of the action at spots, but I've seen better.

Dallinor, judging by the two pictures you give, Resistance, the second picture looks much better, the top picture of Gears brings to the fore another facet of that games graphics that I don't like. They are totally grainy.

Also, you can clearly see one of the things that I talked about before from the first picture you give.  It seems that you are in very close quarters to the monster that you are trying to kill, yet you can't see its face very distinctly at all.  In the second picture from Gears, I can see both the soldier and the alien that he is fighting very clearly.

Why do people always want to compare 360 launch games with PS3 launch games? PDZ vs. Resistance= Resistance hands down. PDZ came out a year earlier on a "weaker" console. What the hell. Just because the 360 came out a year earlier, it's games should be a year more advanced?

Compare what the PS3 is doing now, to what the 360 is doing now. Compare the PS3's best game of '06 to the 360's best of '06. If anything, given the amount of hype the Playstation 3 had coming out of the gates, it should've blown Gears away. It didn't.
