Forums - Nintendo - Do you think there should be a futuristic Zelda game?

I'm not sure how I'd feel about this. It'd be a cool concept, but it wouldn't be Zelda. Aside from basic gameplay mechanics, the only way they could tie it to LoZ would be to shoehorn in the same Link/Zelda/Ganondorf story from past Zeldas.

I'm all about making a futuristic Zelda-ish game, but don't make it Zelda.

No.. it will never happen and should not. If Nintendo has a lot of futuristic plans, they should put them into Project HAMMER.

Steampunk would be nice, like FFVI. FFVI wasn't futuristic at all, it was when they were beginning to use steam technology. I would love a zelda like that.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

I would absolutely love to see a futuristic Zelda game, if Nintendo did it right...

If they said Twilight Princess was the last traditional Zelda, does that mean Phantom Hourglass was the new Zelda. If so, the worrying can cease because that game was great.

Aurally examine my music!

Wear gaudy colours or avoid display. It's all the same.

Be warned, I will use walls of polysyllables and complex clauses as a defence against lucid argument.

Wand to read a creepy thread?

Further in the future of Hyrule, yes. But SF Futuristic? No. Zelda is a fantasy, and I no more want to see that character transplanted to the future than I want to see StarFox on some primitive dinosaur planet (oh wait...). If Nintendo has an idea for a Zelda-type game in a SF setting, I would rather them develop a new franchise around it.

Compared to past Zeldas it wasn't.

I think it was. I'm sick of finding bottles, for one thing. And the stylus control was perfect.
