Forums - Nintendo - Do you think there should be a futuristic Zelda game?

I think its possible and it will be great especially for the newcomers that never played Zelda before, its been done in Final fantasy games, a mix of medeival landmarks and places and themes but in futuristic setting. For examples, FF VI, FFIX, FF X, FFIV, FF Crystal bearers and so forth...

Both are fantasy,so you fail.

Hmmm the idea is interesting. But I'm not sure if it would work. Zelda doesn't seem like the kind of game that would be done with. There wouldn't be anything like fishing. All the weapons would be different. Horses would probably have to be ditched for some other animal. It would be interesting to see how a futuristic Zelda game would be pulled off though.

sure, everything can go futuristic, or maybe a time machine to go from middle ages to the future

Yeah, but it would be raping a good franchise and Nintendo would lose a bit of my respect. If you're going to create a futuristic action adventure game you might as well create a new franchise.

Final fantasy games in the other hand did it quite nicely though, and yeah, same goes to Naruto. Naruto was actually playing a Playstation and they have computers even most of their weapons are low tech. Even the buildings and houses are low tech, its a fictional world anyway anything can be done in a fictional world. You shouldnt base it in real world...

@pichu pichu---> Time travel cant be done EVER, even in the future 100,000 years from now. So Link using the time machine isnt technology, its magic/sorcery...

thats not stopping Squaresoft from trying, and look at how mainstream Final Fantasy get after Final fantasy 7, for a gaming company you should risk to make a new unique theme.

final fantasy is different though they are not connected most of them are not even set on the same planet, zelda is almost always set in hyrule or places similar to hyrule, besdes futuristic hyrule will not have that magical feeling zelda games have.
