Also, I need first hand information on Uncharted and Heavenly Sword: Is there anything in these two games of a sexual nature, foul language, or significant blood? I'll have a 10 year old girl around and she really likes to play as well and would like for her to be able to play them as well.

Really, you have nothing to worry about. If anything, those games will give your daughter 3 strong female role models.

Agreed.

Though at times Uncharted made me wonder why I was killling hundreds of people over some unknown treasure.  And more importanly how some lowly Haitian pirate had 100s of men to throw at me, lol.

I enjoyed Lair even with the motion controls. You can probably find it for cheap by now, so why the hell not.

COD4 trumps pretty much every other FPS out there, including Halo 3, so just skip Resistance 1. Resistance 2 definitely looks like it will be worth checking out though.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I love heavenly sword and it's rated teen so you won't ahve any problems if your daughter wants to play it ,,,,same with uncharted.

I recommend these two highly +ratchet.

plus get burnout paradise.the price of this game has dropped in NA from 59 to 39.a must buy i think.

hope you enjoy your purchase,,,do you have HD TV?if so you can really appreciate the bluray feature of the PS3.

Congrats, you will just be getting into the swing of things on your PS3, at the same time Sony is adding trophies and in-game xmb.
(if 2.40 is fixed)

anyways, you may never even experience the pain of receiving a message from someone, while you are playing a game, and not being able to check it.

You should get Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. It is fun for all ages. Check out the IGN review, it is a must have in my opinion.

I'll say this about LAIR, I purchased it used for 10$ and I still feel ripped off even with the analog controls. I find the game a little unforgiving despite it's sub-par lock on system and somewhat disorienting mid-air battles.

The online isn't much of a draw to me since I don't really play online games. Given that it is free on the PS3 (they really ought to be charging, but that's another story) I'll probably try it out more than I have on my 360, but in my few online experiences I've done in the past, it just didn't do anything for me. I'm a local co-op fan rather than an online one and I'm definitely not an online kill others type. It just doesn't motivate me to play the game. I'd rather a story-driven piece of entertainment...

Oh, and I'm not an achievement whore on my 360 so trophies really don't do much for me, lol. It is good that Sony added all the new features, though...

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Cool, I hope you like it!
--Resistance has some pretty cool guns and nice online. If you're burned out on shooters, I'd say skip it. I have to agree with DMeisterJ that after COD4, it feels outdated.
--Uncharted is amazing. There are a few swears in the dialogue, but definitely not at the Quentin Tarantino level. Most people don't even remember the few swears. If your apprehensive about your daughter's exposure to that stuff, I suggest giving the games a spin yourself before letting her play. Overall, I'd let a kid play that one.
--Heavenly Sword- Great game with some annoyances. I loved it. The story is solid and the character, Nariko, is strong. I don't like that Nariko can't jump, but this isn't a platformer, so it's not really necessary. Also features a strong, cute, playable supporting character who's scenarios are a blast with the Sixaxis.
--Lair isn't horrible. I had fun with it. They did patch the controls, but the Sixaxis wasn't really the issue. It's that the dragon was so hard to steer. More realistic, yeah(we are talking about 2 ton beasts here, not surprising they can't turn on a dime) but a pain, nonetheless. Buy it cheap, if possible, or rent it.

Also, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, and Ratchet have downloadable demos on PSN, so definitely try those out. And a word of advice in regards to Singstar: Don't let you daughter view the online submissions without you in the room. As with all online communities, some of them can get.....mature.
Have fun!

Yes! Embrace the Dark Side.....Let it flow through you. I can feel it.....making you stronger. Oh, and buy Uncharted. It's lighthearted, beautiful, and fun. My second favorite PS3 exclusive.

What are online submissions?  Are they songs, recordings? Posts like a forum?
