Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but according to VGC hardware sales, the Wii is just a hair over double the number of sold PS2 consoles in the same amount of time from launch.  One can't help but be in awe of how many machines they are moving.  Does this trend continue or slow down in the next couple of years?  At some point it will be impossible to ignore as something as low as 1/2% attach rate still is a big number when there are 100 million consoles floating about...

That comparison is flawed, since the Wii was launched in all territories at the same time unlike the PS2.

It's the same flaw behind the "PS3 is tracking along with PS2 sales" argument.

The correct way to compare is by aligning launches in each region.

I tried to prove this in CrazzyMan's "PS3 is PS2" thread for 5 pages (hopefully succeeded).

The PS2 had discombabulated launches so the chart is only showing one region.

I really expected better from you kn, I really did.

Unless he is using Crazzy logic to compare to the PS3 vs PS2 sales thread.

kn: the PS2 launced in March in Japan, November in the US and December in Europe.
The Wii launced almost simultaniously in all territories.

If you want a good view on how well wii is doing you should compare every region seperately.

Still Wii wins though, which is an amzing feat.

Doesn't amaze me. The Wii is so popular here in the U.S. that it's just incredible.

Even if you many of you guys are saying PS2 was released at different times in regions, Wii still wins if you look at all regions. (my source, BengaBenga =o)

Stunted launches. Wii's doing good, and will probably outsell PS2, but not in 1/2 the time.
