I don't really think you can prove a theory with a list of opinions.

No, its fine with me
I think this was true in the past with PS1 and PS2, which is why Sony dominated. Xbox was hardcore, and 360 has been, but I think Microsft is trying to expand the 360 base and appeal to RPG fans and children and even casual gamers a bit. The gamecube appealed to Nintendo fans and children, which put them in a corner. While I absoultly loved the GC (only console I had last gen) I wished it had a few more great third party games like RE4 and Viewtiful Joe and Monkey Ball and ToS.
This gen... the Wii is for everyone, just like the DS. The DS started with hardcore fans, and then branched out to casuals, starting with Nintendogs. After that it took over. Wii takeover will take about as long; Nintendo started with Hardcore Nintendo fans (zelda) and cusuals (Wii sports) this time, but unlike the DS they wern;t first to market, as the 360 had already captured alot of the hardcore.
The PS3 may still appeal to everyone, but with its high price appealing to everyone may stretch itself to thin an fail to capture any one of its former bases fully. In the end PS3 should be able to get a 2nd place and break even or almost break even, but Sony will lose alot of its fans to Nintendo and Microsoft. Personally I think Sony should have gone with a $300 PS3 at launch without BR and had comparable yet worse graphics to the 360 (similar to GC vs Xbox)
In conclusion, PS3 is not just for hardcore gamers...it appeals to the casual and hardcore gamer crowd. The games that it has and ones that it will have in the future everyone will be able to relate to. P.S. Bet: PS3 2009 sales will equal Wii 2008 total WW sales.

ps3 is the best console out, it does more for the money than the other 2.
its only in its second year and has done very well.
things should clear up a bit after xmas 2008, i predict ps3 at the end of the generation to be the highest selling console of all time. with the greatest games, greatest grafix and greatest audio.
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk
really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...
If the PS3 appealed to people, they might actually buy them.

not for the hardcore crowd
Sounds like your talking about a PS2! And yes, it was very casual. This on the other hand is a PS3! A million of Sly Cooper on the PS3??
