Forums - Gaming - Most recent gaming disappointment?

1. Kingdom Under Fire Circle of Doom. The 2 previous installations were an outstanding blend of action-RPG-RTS gameplay. The story didn't really matter and the voiceovers were horrible, but the 2 games were addictive as hell. CoD is plain SHIT.
2.Lost Odyssey. If THAT is a great representative of classical JRPGs, I dont even want to think of a mediocre one. Melodramatic and boring story, technical issues, random fights (man, thats horrible) and really babbling. And REALLY REALLY BORING... Oh well, I guess I will never manage to play a JRPG...

Umm I WILL GET FLAMED for this:

Wii Fit.....

it has been a TERRIBLE disappointment in every way to me. First of all I must say I was very hyped for this & after SMG delivered in so many ways I thought ninty had another GOTY on their hand....but it was quite bad.

Not only does the novelty ware out but the exercises get repetitive...boring & some of them aren't very well explained....it just isn't much fun for me.....my mom has stopped going on it as well.

Well I am going to sell Wii Fit on E-Bay....its sold out....I should get a £20 profit n I'll buy GT 5 Prologue instead....

Mass Effect-the story was good but the combat was horrible and the technical issues didn't help. I am in no hurry to try the PC version.

So, you're in no hurry to try the version that has redone the interface, revamped the controls to be easier and more intuitive, and apparently fixed a majority of the technical issues?

Makes perfect sense.

True but there is copy protection and I am not sure if my PC can run it decently

Battalion Wars. I had heard really great things about this game, and I found it NEW in the box for $10, so I picked it up. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a half-assed RTS with severe issues in control, friendly AI, and interface, and it couldn't quite pull off the cartoony feel it was going for either.

Yeah i agree. I mean it's a fun game... just not for me... due to one problem.

No encounter mode. How is their not a mode where you are free to set up who fights who and then you take control of one of the sides?

Hm. Or Mass Effect. I forget which came first for me. It's my own fault for overhyping Mass Effect into something it wasn't though.

Edit: also i'm talking about BW2.  Though the game was still worth it for the horrible stereotype voices.

Super Paper Mario was a horrible disappointment. Nintendo took the same humor from the other games, and downgraded it into one steaming pile of cliche. The villains were terribly boring. Even the combat, which was the staple of the series, had been ruined.

I would've actually sold it had they took out cooking. What a piece of crap.

LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (PS3)

The game got great reviews, plus its star wars, plus it is lego. I thought it would be fun and great. What a disappointment. Most of the time I didn't know what was going on, so I just walked about pressing buttons until a door opened or something.

Resident Evil 4 - I hear all of these great things about it and I tried it out and found it to be a boring experience with little to no horror and all action with frustrating button pressing sequences.

Oblivion. I only paid $20 and I had never really played any of these PC-style RPGs so I wasn't expecting to be absolutely wowed, but even still I was rather underwhelmed.... errr maybe overwhelmed. Too many items and options and menus etc.

I think this same kind of complaint can be levelled at JRPGs these days. It's probably why they've really waned in popularity.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

@IllegalPaladin

FINALLY!!!

someone who agrees with me on that overrated game!

GTA IV for me as well.

I played the game to 100% and can decidedly say that it is weak compared to San Andreas. There are a host of reasons why, but the main ones are that it has much less variety and it's much less rewarding. I spent the second half of the game wishing I was playing SA. It's a genuine step backward.
