Forums - Nintendo - What "only one game do" u think Ninty could win the console war easily?

I would say either a Pokemon MMORPG would basically guarantee their victory (not that it's not already in the bad) but a Mario and Sonic platformer developed by Nintendo would also be very big. I'd even say if Nintendo is working on a Super Mario Galaxy 2, that half the worlds will be Sonic levels, where a second player can join in as Sonic, or something like that.

Metal Gear Solid Wii

i really dont think there is one game that will do it, that theory of the one game savior has been debunked already

first there was halo for the 360...sure t boosted but in teh end it didn't change anything

then cam GTA $--once again it was supposed to be the one game system seller for the hd machines...and once again it was nothing more then a spurt

finally there came MGS4 and once again it was a blip on the radar and soon passed into the void.....

so one game wont make or break anything in this "war"

They've already won if current trends hold (which most likely will) regardless of KH3

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

You are all wrong. A groundshaking (disruptive) Wii-Game would first need a new peripheral and second it must open new markets. Both of this would be done with WiiBrator (NSFW). Right now it is only available as HomeBrew or as PC-Application. However as soon as there is a real Wii-Version you will see that the VideoGame-Market will explode.

Picture added as a link above, need to keep it safe for the folks at work.

But is the original Playstation succeeds well because of FFVII right?

Its like yeah, we're winning but here is the game that we can say we already dominate the war, just like what Final fantasy VII did with the PSX

Wrong. The original Playstation took off higher because of FFVII, no doubt, but it had countless higher quality titles that propelled it ahead--it had the Tekken series, Ridge Racer, Twisted Metal, and so forth.  It came out before the N64 and was cheaper and easier to work with (for developers) than the Saturn and the N64.  The original Playstation won for a variety of reasons.  FFVII was just a contributor to that success--it didn't single-handedly make it.

A system needs more than one game to be successful.  The N64 had Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye007, the good Perfect Dark, and Super Mario 64 and still couldn't topple the Playstation.

Nights didn't save the Saturn, Shenmue didn't save the Dreamcast.  Alien vs Predator and Tempest 2000 didn't save the Jaguar.

It took about a year and a half for developers and publishers to start churning out high-quality exclusives for the DS and they started jumping on board with that thing once they saw how popular it was.  The same is true of the Wii, the devs and publishers came on board a bit late, but they're on board.  The games they started when they signed on to the Wii in late 2006 and early 2007 will start showing up later this year and next year.  There will be a plethora of titles flooding the Wii to aid it's success.  What it needs is a few really solid, exclusive, 3rd party efforts to sell astronomically on the system for some of the more bitter hardcore gamers to take notice.  Those are the hold-outs the Wii needs to snag.

Well for me since Soriku wish to be on this Wii so much; Kingdom Hearts 3

They already did it, and the name is Wii Sports.

That's not even mentioning others that would have done it too, such as Wii fit.

A much harder to answer question, could any game come out for either the PS3 or 360 that could change the market direction and have Sony or Microsoft win the console war?

I disagree strongly with that--for one, a lot of people dislike or even loathe Pokemon.  I hate Pokemon.  Pokemon will not sway the Blue Ocean crowd, nor will it impress the disgruntled hardcore gaming legions that still shy away from the Wii.  If you're going to go with an MMORPG that creates an online community of sorts that draws people in, you have to go with Animal Crossing.

I still disagree with this concept that it only needs one major game--though, if there was going to be one major title to sway bitter hardcore hold-outs and convince some devs that this is a system to take seriously, it'd have to be an extremely well-made and extremely popular (high selling) third party endeavour that's Teen or Mature rated.

But again, there needs to be way more than one game to accomplish the task of making the Wii the home of the hardcore gamers, the blue ocean gamers, the pop gamers, and a focus for AAA titles from developers and publishers.  For one thing, there needs to be a harddrive to give devs more options and there needs to be much higher sales of a great many of these high-quality 3rd party games.

But its FFVII that make the PSX make it on the top and dominate console war though, I mean, its FINAL FANTASY, its a Nintendo console game we knew how large impact that was to Nintendo and the market at that time.
