I'd even say if Nintendo is working on a Super Mario Galaxy 2, that half the worlds will be Sonic levels, where a second player can join in as Sonic, or something like that. |
I disagree strongly with that--for one, a lot of people dislike or even loathe Pokemon. I hate Pokemon. Pokemon will not sway the Blue Ocean crowd, nor will it impress the disgruntled hardcore gaming legions that still shy away from the Wii. If you're going to go with an MMORPG that creates an online community of sorts that draws people in, you have to go with Animal Crossing.
I still disagree with this concept that it only needs one major game--though, if there was going to be one major title to sway bitter hardcore hold-outs and convince some devs that this is a system to take seriously, it'd have to be an extremely well-made and extremely popular (high selling) third party endeavour that's Teen or Mature rated.
But again, there needs to be way more than one game to accomplish the task of making the Wii the home of the hardcore gamers, the blue ocean gamers, the pop gamers, and a focus for AAA titles from developers and publishers. For one thing, there needs to be a harddrive to give devs more options and there needs to be much higher sales of a great many of these high-quality 3rd party games.
