Forums - Sales - Effect of sub-Wii prices on Xbox360 sales?

I think the Wii sells better because it has more interesting games, not because of its price. And at this point, I think the 360 is cheaper than the Wii in most of the world -- even the 20GB model!

My 360 gets a fraction of the playtime that my Wii gets. But keep in mind that I burned out on shooters on the PC and it's hard to go to the 360 after playing on an undeniably better platform for the genre.

Wii sales won't be affect...unless some really compelling casually oriented games are bundled with the Arcade which would use the rumoured motion controller.

It will result in a sustained spike in Xbox sales, but it will have no effect on Wii sales. Irrespective of possible price cuts, Wii hardware sales will only improve with increased production. The notion that price is the main cause of the Wii's success is a myth.

Even then it would not affect the Wii sales.. The Wii is cool in the minds of the casuel not the Xbox360...

It had no effect in Europe, why would it be any different in the US where the Wii has even bigger demand?

Agreed.  I don't know what people are expecting with this price drop.

Especially with the fact that this drop will not be the magnitude of the one in Europe.

I think a problem with it is that it's the arcade version. It's still too dumbed down a version that I don't think it's right to view the console's price as "less than wii." Until a 360 with full featues gets below the wii, I don't think there's any debate.

Shouldn't have any effect.

The effect will only work in one direction.
More Xbox 360 buyers but not less Wii customers.

I'm in Europe, and I paid less for my 20 GB 360 than for my Wii (Amazon UK has had a promotion for months now). Even ignoring promotions, Wii's price is really close to the price of the 360 Premium in Europe, and the Wii still outsells it by far.

Price is overrated during this gen. The only reason why some people give it so much attention is that it's an easy (but wrong) way to discount Wii's success.

People like Nintendo and Sony companies more than Microsoft. The company's brand image and reputation counts a lot. Hardly anyone likes Microsoft so they do not buy the console.

it will do nothing since x360 have mostly different audience than wii. ms would have to make some games for non-gamers(casual gamers) and new-gamers and i don't think ms will do this.
