I think the war for the first place is done. Nintendo has done a good job with releasing their Wii. They entered a new era of console gaming = motion controls. PS3 will and second place. The reason why the PS3 will win is because it has games that are meant to be played on a console. 360 also has good games within genres that are preferred on PC. 360 benefits from PC but it also compets with the PC platform more than the PS3 does.

However Sony and Microsoft might announce motion controls at E3 2008. They won't be able to catch the Wii this generation. I do believe that such an announcement would kill Wii HD. Imagine PS3 and 360 with motion controls at the end of this year. That's 2/3 years head start against Wii HD. Nintendo needs to innovate again cause Microsoft and Sony will copy Nintendo soon enough.

How can anyone say the PS3 will take over in 6 years? it probably won't even be around in 6 years! I've read loads of peoples opinions stating that only the leading console has a lifespan of over 5 years and i believe console history supports that. I believe that too. I think it's a bit arrogant of sony thinking they can have a 10 year console life with PS3.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

Wii will win ahead of PS360 which may be very close in Lifetime sales.

Other than that right now it really does look like Wii will take it, but PS3 still has a chance. We can pretty much rule out a first place victory for 360 and pretty much rule out 2nd place for it as well. Has about a 95% chance of being a 3rd place captor.

Now wii will go strong through 2008 and into 2009, but the question is after 2009 will it start to die off. More than likely yes because the technology then will seem ancient, especially at how things advance these days. Thus it would seem PS3 would have time to catch up but here's the thing. If PS3 doesn't start to make a move until Wii starts fading, then there will be no way it can catch up. The 8th generation will take off too quickly and leave the PS3 behind, which will include the PS4. If PS3 wants to sell for years after the PS4 comes out it needs dominance like PS2, which it probably won't get. Meaning it needs to start getting all it can get.

When? Well probably NOW would be good. If PS3 doesn't change it's course by the end of 2008, then trends would suggest Wii will take this generation by a good 30- 40 million. If PS3 starts to move and limit the damage then the it could be only about 10-20 million difference. but if PS3 really takes off later in 2008 and carries over to 2009 then we are looking at a very slim victory for PS3 with Wii right behind it and 360 left in the dust.

However most trends would suggest a Wii victory, but it's not out of the question that PS3 can comeback and take a close 1st place victory.

Actually it is out of the question. It has never happened before and there is no reason to believe things will be different this time.

Wii. A flawless victory. Wii has even bested the Ps2 and many areas. (areas that are impossible for the Ps3 or 360 to best in in.)

Tech doesn't really matter at this point either imo.

Of course it will be PS3!!More and more people want to watch the HD movie! PS3 has the Blu-ray! This is the most postive point that WII and XB360 haven't.
