It does say rumor. So there still is a chance.
I just read this was gonna post it, but then 'someone' would accuse me of having a bias for posting Nintendo news that was glowing....
It is just a rumor, could be totally wrong.
The worse part of the article is this:
'Sources further claim that the team formerly working on the title is now underway with one or more efforts that fall into the "expanded audience" lineup of games.'
More non-games... yes cancel the action games for non-games...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
Hard to say. I don't know why they would. Game was pretty far ahead last time we saw it(in a compliation video at Nintendo World 06). It would be madness to cancel it now. it probobly wasn't far from completion.
If it is true then it's likely it just didn't "work" as a game, I can't really see any other reason to cancel a game that has already had so much time put into it.
I personally didn't think it looked very good, although it is a shame they are being put onto another mass appeal non game. I'm really looking forward to when developers and the public have got these games out of their system and we can see what the Wii is really capable of.
But it looked very far into development!
Granted, it didn't look very complicated...swingin' hammers and such...but cmon Nintendo! There's plenty of "casual" games already...
I don't know what to think...Nintendo is certainly trying to appeal to all sorts of gamers...I don't see why they'd kick this game, unless it just wasn't that great. Perhaps the game sucked, so they gave it the boot early, and now the remaining resources are going for casual games, because it'd be too hard to come up with a whole new action game.
But we'll see...I hope it's wrong, just because this looked pretty fun.
THIS IS MADNESS!

Different sources...I'm more likely to believe this story from IGN.
Though I wouldn't be too surprised if DDoC gets cancelled too...Nintendo's going crazy with minigames hehe.

Sure it is a rumor, but it is something Nintendo would do. Too bad, though. My expectations were that they were going to get their big 3 out the door in 2007, while focusing on some new IP's-Project HAMMER and Disaster Day of Crisis- in 2008.
The only way I will forgive Nintendo for this is if they tell me the new Zelda is coming out late 2008 and show me a kick ass trailer. Otherwise, SHAME on you Nintendo. I may have to side with those that say you are abandoning the core. Prove me wrong, leave us Disaster.
