Forums - Gaming - PS3 VS. X360 multi-plat Graphics Comparison

@makingmusic.
The problem with the 360 version is that is soooo brown. Yes, the PS3 version looks really brighter and easier to the eye. But, if you read the article carefully and watch the comparison video, PS3 version sacrificed antialiasing, lightning effects that are totally non existent, draw distance, textures (in areas where are buildings in particular, PS3 version looks like a XBOX game). Either way, the game SUCKS big time. But that doesn't change the fact, that 360 gives us superior looking AND performing games. A little awkward for a year older hardware hah?

All these games' lead platform is the 360 and it seems to be a case of build the game on the 360 and then try and port to the PS3. Not the sensible way to approach these games.

When more companies start with PS3 as the lead platform, we will see either identical or better games on the PS3.

 PS3 is the lead platform for GTA IV.

But it was still smoother and output at a higher resolution on the 360 with AA as well.

One more time, what solar system are you coming from? The GTAIV 360 development had 1 year headstart  in regard to the PS3 one, and the game would have been released in Autumn 2007 if it wasn't the race of making PS3 version look similar to the 360 one.

Look at those screens and tell me which was has the longer draw distance?  That's why I posted the pics in the first place.

And the 360 version doesn't have better AA.  They just use that blurring trick that the ps3 version of GTAIV did.

This article was getting ripped to shreds on NeoGAF.  Apparently Eurogamer was focusing on the positives of the 360 versions of the games, and downplaying the advantages of the ps3 versions.

Just look at this Quake Wars screen captured from their own comparison video:

Full pic here.

Full pic here.

Which version looks better to you?

People in the thread were also saying that the demo for Grid on the ps3 had some tearing issues as mentioned by Eurogamer, but that they were just about gone in the retail version.

Read the thread here.

ps3 version overall looks better and has added game elements like viepoints, and better online. but eurogamer dont take these into acount, they just focus on 360 good points and downplay ps3 good points. and regarding grid they are talking out of thier arse. just as they talked out thier arse for the gta4 comparison, when majority of reviewrs sais ps3 version has technical edge, but according to eurogamer they say opposite

It was?  I seem to recall them showing the 360 version every time they demoed the game.

The game was multiplatform from the start, remember.  MS got to R* real early with that one.  Hell, the game was announced for both platforms (E306) before Sony even released final ps3 devkits.

ps3 version on that vid looks heaps better lol

Respect for compans: SONY > NINTENDO >>>>>>>>>> MICROSOFT

GTA IV development was lead on the 360, the game had about a 1 year extra development headstart on the 360. The reason why the PS3 version looks better is because at a later stage a PS3 focussed team added some additional enhancements, like obviously improved lighting. The reason why the textures look better on the PS3 is publicly unknown and much speculated on, the 360 version performs some weird dithered rendering for further away textures causing an obvious loss of detail, the reason why the PS3 version has fewer pop-in issues is because of (better) harddrive usage.

But assets wise and game engine wise, GTA IV was a 360 lead project with the PS3 version lagging behind in development till just before release.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

@makingmusic
Are we playing with the pictures? You give me one frame and I tell you go watch the video. There is no lighting effects in PS3 version and it has no aa too. Read the article. However, it is silly to disagree on such a lame game.
