Sometime the 360 has trouble outdoing its predeseccor.

the first 2 are X360 game the last one is an xbox game. i know the 360 is better the the xbox but from these pics the 360 textures are not any better then xbox textures

The original XBox had a default harddrive for developers to always rely on and the disc storage space is the same for both XBox and 360, so using very high quality textures and/or a great diversity of textures developers run out of DVD space.

but the 360 should blow all xbox games away but from these pics it seems that it doesnt do it all the time

The 360 is more powerful, it can have far more action onscreen, add many more graphics effects, etc.

Having more onscreen however does mean more texture data has to be fed as well, also high quality textures on the XBox take up about just as much disc space as it does on the 360. You can workaround this by reusing assets throughout the game (less graphics varierty), there are also some procedural methods (which usually take a lot of coding efforts usually with worse results compared to artist design) especially the Cell processor on the PS3 is very powerful for.

This thread just won't stop. Amazing. I'm only interested in one thing: Which RE5 will look the best. Everything else is unimportant.

Most likely they'll be really close, which of course won't stop hordes of fanboys from claiming it's the definitive proof that their console is superior and will start blowing the other one out of the water real-soon-now™.

I have mostly seen 360 fans making a huge fuss over often very small differences in multi-platform games (Of course PS3 supporters are going to hit back when multi-platform PS3 games have the edge, nomatter how small). I expect Resident Evil 5 to be good and on par for both systems. Regarding multi-platform games for the short to mid run we probably won't notice many differences, it's often the intention of multi-platform games developers to make the games about on par.

It's the exclusives where you can see and will see to a greater extend the distinguishing features between the hardware. For such games the developing company has no reason to hold back to suit another plaform and 1st parties (some leading 3rd party exclusives) will want to show off the system capabilities to the greatest extend possible. So Resistance 2 vs Halo 3, Killzone 2 vs Gear of War 2, Gran Turismo 5 vs Forza 3, etc.

so 360 fans mention on game that LOOKS better than gt5p, uncharted, mgs4

and to give you an idea of the power of the PS3, we're using only 30 percent of the Cell processor.

You have to put that into context though. They surely use 99.9% of the GPU which is still more important for graphics. You can use the CELL to enhance graphics but it is primarily a CPU and Uncharted is not exactly the game with the best AI, physics or millions of on-screen characters.

But its definitely one if not the best-looking game. (Only Crysis beats it clearly) But I agree with Squilliam, they have some God of War like advantages. The levels are very linear etc. pp. If you have to simulate a whole city like GTA you have to make some concessions.

As a person who has finished Lost Odyssey, there is no last gen game that comes halfway close in visuals. heres some videos.

Everyone has to watch this one. It's pure genius. Just goes to show that cutscenes in JRPG's can be done well with good voice actors. Not the usual drviel and missed timed cutscenes like FF. It's funny watch.

Ahhh ... again and agian ... Uncharted ... Uncharted ... Uncharted!!!
Every model in Uncharted looks like plastic! Grass looks like plastic, trees looks like plastic, walls looks like plastic, people looks like plastic. Only water looks cool, but not better then in Bioshock. Yes, it is the best colorful looking game, but best graphics ... ? No-o-o-o !
Wait! Rachet is more colorful ... sorry Uncharted. You are not N1 even in this.

see this:

there is no lighting on rainbow six for ps3 also its have low textures and NFS many objects are removed from ps3 version.
