480p used to be HD, and 480i was SD, but now 480p is considered ED (enhanced definition) and anything higher is considered HD.

Bet ready for everybody to chew you a new asshole, and say that ED is either between SD and HD, or is a subset of SD.

oh well, the link I posted for the X-box games still holds.  If people want to be jerks.....I still stand that people pass around the "lol wii cant handle HD !!111one" argument as rubbish...

I actually just figured out that GC games are 480p, I played my GC yesterday on my HD TV and was suprised how much better it looked then my N64. Not very pixalated either.

Well, technically those people are right. The Wii would technicall of course be able to output HD graphics, after all that's only a resolution issue. But Nintendo locked the output of anything higher resolution than 480p. So unless they change that there won't be HD graphics on Wii.

@ Benga

really?! that's definitely odd for them to do that.

No it's not. It prevents developers from making HD games that run like crap. If you increase the resolution the logical downside is that the frametrate will suffer.

I guess that makes sense as I would rather play a 480p game that runs well than a 720p game that runs at 10 fps and crashes..

The PS2 even had at least one HD game, GranTurismo4 ran in 1080i. You could also set it up to run on 3 screens like PC games, but you needed 3 PS2's and 3 games.

Yes, but it would just have bad graphics in comparison. None of these games seem to have any physics that would be too hard for the wii to do. Gta4 does have some good Ai though, but the wii might be capable of this.

Alright when I say ps3 can hande crysis at medium high settings you laugh, but when you say wii can handle GTA 4 everybody agrees? Go figure!

I didn't say at its current settings. Learn some reading comprehension and you would know I said it will have to be downgraded graphically.
