Forums - Gaming - will halo wars do what halo:combat evolved did?

As others have mentioned, Starcraft 2 is more than enough RTS. It'll last me another 4-5 years (along with C&C3)

It has a chance of being a revolutionary step to bring RTS fans to console gaming. Console gaming makes it mainstream so the average Joe can afford to play the game.
StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 brought to console within 12 months would be a great move and see lots of profits made if they chose to bring console versions of latest PC RTS games.

 the double analog controls?

I dont think anyone understands the original question at all. Hes asking if Halo Wars will make RTS games popular on consoles which right now it isnt. Consider this, if Halo Wars sells 1.5 million copies, it will be the best selling RTS console game in history. Just because they dont sell well on consoles yet.

^exactly,i also think it might sell more then that but people will call it a dissapointment just because it didnt sell like the other halo games

So they replaced the C-Pad with an analog stick?  Bungie did that?  The C-Pad and analog stick do the same thing.  It didn't change the gameplay in any way.  It was a natural progression to turn the pad into a stick to add a bit of sensitivity, and Halo wasn't even the first FPS to do that.  TimeSplitters was on the PS2 a year earlier, and you could even play Descent in 1995 with a dual analog controller.

But Halo was incredibly popular and sold very well and had an enourmous cult following. Time splitters was only mildly popular

i dont see it doing anything other than making rts+halo fans happy and annoying a (much) larger number of other halo fans who picked it up because it said halo.

So what Halo did differently was that it was the launch FPS for XBox Live and it had "revolutionary marketing" ? But I don't see a difference in gameplay.
