Just goes to show you a price drop is possible.

Just out of curiousity, how can we be sure Sony isn't manipulating this counter in an attempt to increase demand?

It is first and foremost an attempt to sell TVs.

Sony is an honest corporation. They do not do that sort of thing. I think you are confusing Sony for Microsoft. We all know MS do all the tricks in the book.

Read the Terms & Conditions (Article 6).

Sony are making money out of this deal believe it or not. When you see the prices of TVs here down under try not to get a heart attack =)

How can we be sure the US government isn't hiding crashed UFOs from Roswell?
Personally I just take their word for it, but plenty of people prefer to take the conspiracy theorist's word for it.
You're welcome to take your pick.
I'm not saying they are definitely manipulating it, but I could see it being in Sony's interest to give consumers the impression they need to hurry to get their TV before they run out of free PS3s to increase demand. But it doesn't really matter, cause I recall someone saying Gfk will track these sales so we should get the correct number of PS3s sold.
Well, seeing as it says there are still over half left with less than half the month remaining they haven't done a very good job of giving consumers the impression they need to hurry before they run out of PS3s.
This offer is a win win for Sony. Pure genius! They will shift plenty of T.V's and plenty of PS3's. If they would make the same offer in the states, they would boost their USA profile too which at the moment has only recently started to gain on MS.
