Im happy with MM9 exclusive.

Why?

Why don't you want those not owning a Wii to able to play this game?

I don't get that fanboy logic.

Exclusives are better than cross-platform games, typically. This will likely be the same all-around since it's going to be of something like NES-calibre, so each system will have no trouble at all handling it--and it is a multi-platform title.

Preferring exclusives over cross-platform titles isn't fanboyism. You're just name-calling. Exclusive titles sell systems and, often, are optimized for one console, so the odds of higher quality go way up. Look how dismally Alone in the Dark is faring in reviews. They made it for so many systems at once and none got really solid attention because it was spread around. The same is true of movie spin-off shlock like Incredible Hulk and Iron Man. None were seriously optimized in part because it's just "a movie tie-in" and in part because it's cross-platform. Too little focus spread too far.

For me, an exclusive is less about "I don't want [insert console] owner to own this game," as it is, "this will benefit [insert console] and that's good." Differing game libraries make systems more valuable. The problem with the PS3 and Xbox360 is that their libraries are way too similar as they share a vast multitude of multi-platform titles. Neither of these consoles will be fondly remembered systems in the future the way past consoles with tons of killer exclusives are. Look at the SNES and Genesis/Master System. They aren't fondly remembered for their cross-platform titles like Mortal Kombat or all the sports games. They're fondly remembered for the exclusives they had--Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III/VI, Mario RPG, Mario World, StarFox, Mana, Donkey Kong Country, Contra III, Super Castlevania IV, etc. Sonic, Vectorman, Shining Force, Phantasy Star, Gunstar Heroes, etc.

So you miss some games because you don't have a certain system. So what? All successful consoles eventually offer plenty to enjoy and you can always enjoy other exclusives later on when they're much cheaper. Frankly, I would have preferred if Mega Man 9 had been a Wii exclusive, simply because the Wii could really use more highly-anticipated exclusive games. Even if they are modern downloaded NES titles.

Why do you pick Alone in the Dark, the Hulk and Iron Man as examples? Why not Cod 4, Gta 4 and Devil May Cry 4 etc? There are lots of examples of good multiplatform games as well.

Anyway...

I think why most of the best games are exclusives doesn't really have to do with them being exclusive, but more to do with that companies want exclusives on their consoles, and most importantly GOOD exclusives. Therefore they pay developers to get the game for their console only and therefore most of the best games are exclusives.

And as someone mentioned, this game would differ very little on the different platforms and I don't think anyone save for fanboys would care about the differencies.

Since those are essentially exclusive games, even though they appear on two platforms. That's not the case for the games Resident hazard mentioned. Those are made for very different platforms.

Okey... byt why didn't you answer on my opinion?

I agree with a lot of the sentiments about exclusive games for consoles allowing for optimization, but this just isn't one of those cases.

This is an 8 bit game. 8 bit! Every console -- the DS, the PSP, the Wii, the 360, the PS2, the PS3, the PC -- could run this game with the exact same specs and the same controller. This isn't a game that's optimized for a single platform, the way MGS4 was, the way Cooking Mama is, the way Boom Blox is; it isn't even optimized for a subset of platforms, the way Devil May Cry is (that works well on both the 360 and PS3, but would be very ineffective on the Wii, for example).

And we've already had a thread where we revealed that Mega Man 9 would be coming to the Wii; this isn't a general "hurray, it's coming to the Wii!" thread, it's a very specific "hurray, it's not coming to the PS3/360!" thread. We all know this game would not be changed in the slightest by being on the PS3/360, right? Then let's stop celebrating here.

Sorry 360 and PS3 owners. I wish it would have gone across all 3 as well. So everyone can enjoy it haha.

I found an interesting bit of an old ( E3 2006 ) interview to Kenji Inafune:

Sean: That's really great. And, one really quick last generic question, are you considering any Rockman titles for the Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 3? Keiji Inafune: PlayStation 3, probably the target audience that's going to purchase the PlayStation 3, uh, it's going to be people with a lot more money, and maybe it would not be the most suitable, uh, platform for the Mega Man series. Sean: I agree. Keiji Inafune: However, the Wii definitely has some potential, and it's maybe one where our target audience could embrace the Mega Man series. So while we haven't planned anything specific now at this time, I think probably that the potential is the highest on that piece of hardware. ------------------------- http://www.planet-megaman.com/files/e32006/Inafune_Transcript.txt

How is keeping the game from being played from more people make me happy and rejoice? I'm happy enough that I can get to play it.

 That's what I was wondering.

"Hurray, other people can't play this game! Yay!"

This thread is probably just yushire's way of slapping the detractors in the face. Just a day ago when it was believed that MM9 was multiplat, a bunch of detractors ran into an MM9 thread screaming in delight about how 'detrimental' a multiplat MM game was to the Wii (??) and how "Capcom is shitting on Wii owners" (???) I don't quite understand the logic behind that flamebait but it's what they were saying nonetheless. So it sort of went from MM9 'hurting' the Wii by being multiplat to rejoicing because it's exclusive.

Coincidentally it has brought out the hypocritical nature of some of the posters on this forum, when just a few weeks ago they were "supporting" shitty Ubi games on the Wii so that the HD consoles would get games with some actual effort put into them, but suddenly an exclusive MM9 is "ruining it for everyone" and the fake ass morality police swooping in with reprimands about "not sharing good games with everyone." People only care when it's their console getting shafted, then everything changes.

Now, I will continue to sit back and watch events unfold while occasonally making a somewhat scathing analysis of the community.

Good news. The only reason I want it Wii exclusive is because:

1. PSN and XBLA already have Bionic Commando Rearmed. The Wii isn't getting it. The Wii should get its own exclusive game like this.

2. It will boost Wii HW. I've went around sites and people are already saying they're buying a Wii for MM9. This could potentially be a good Wii HW seller.

I don't think any downloadable title has ever boosted hardware sales. This will be no different. From my understanding, this is essentially a new NES game. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an actual NES game that was never completed or released and Capcom just now yanked it out of their vault and decided "hey, why not?"

It's convincing my one friend to buy the internet converter for the Wii.

Maybe you use the IR function for one or two of the weapons ala dive man's missles but you can control them instead of it being a predicted patern... or use it to control rush... etc.

There could be control reasons. (Probably not.... but could be.)

Or even movement controls wise I mean how cool would it be controlling a missle by moving the wiimote ala your sword position in No More Heroes.

It's good, Wii needs exclusive titles. Most games are always "PS3 360 PC" or "PC 360 Ps3 Wii Ps2 PSP DS" never designed for Wii.

No. I don't agree with you, specially the part that DMC4 would be "very ineffective on the Wii", 'cause the game just present good "graphix", and without it, it could very well be done on the Wii (even the physics aren't that great), with or without gimmick controls.

And since Megaman is a famous franchise coming exclusively to the Wii, it must be celebrated, because the most often thing to happen is the Wii being let out of the big franchises. The same way that MGS fans rejoiced when MGS4 is announced as an exclusive to PS3, and it could be very well done on X360. Or SF fans shitting in the head of the Wii-only owners 'cause we aren't getting SF4 and SF2 HD. I can't see the difference here.

It's interesting to see your change since you bought a 360...
