I actually have played Wind Waker. Or at least half of it. That was my first and only Zelda. I bought it used and eventually the disc crapped out on me so I moved on. I really loved that game. And honestly, I miss that art-style so much. I'm playing TP on my wonderfully large HDTV and the graphics are really leaving something to be desired. It's probably just Sony trojan-horsing anti-Wii technology into their Bravias though. Seriously, though, I just got my 61st star in Galaxy and that game looked beautiful. What's the deal?

Well twilight princess was a gamecube port. Mario Galaxy was made for the wii. Also the area you are at had very few polygons, and horrible textures, because you are only there for about 3hrs of the game. Then you leave forever(unless you want to come back). I do like the particle effects though. Like when midna transforms you, or when you are in twilight areas. You do see the graphics improve though. Especially in places like lake hylia, or the zora domain. Also twilight princess is an open world game while mario galaxy is focused on individual planets, allowing for more to be done in smg. Most people like the art desing in twilight princess though, and I'm one of them. Here is an example of just one area of the world. I say the only action adventure game that rivals it in size is Gta IV.

That makes me feel a lot better. Maybe my memory of Gamecube games has become really hazy, but I felt as though the GC was more than capable of making that first area look better. The textures were really low res and blocky. At the time, I really couldn't help but think this looked like a really good PS1 or N64 game, to be honest.

Is the entire world seamless like GTA?

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Also one thing I did like about twilight princess was that the cinematics were brought up a notch. Hopefully in the next zelda there will be some voice acting. Just don't let link talk.

NOOO. One of my biggest pet peeves in videogame storytelling is the silent protagonist. Compared to the average person, I would say I'm pretty shy. Why do I have to be a mute in a fantasy game?

I actually didn't mind the mute thing in Wind Waker though because the facial expressions in that game were one of the biggest achievements Nintendo made. Every feeling of anger or sadness or frustration was conveyed with such force and eloquence that Link really didn't have to say a word for me to understand what's going through his head. If only more games could capture this.

Trust me, link belongs silent. His companions usually do the talking for him anyway. Also when somebody asks him a question or something he doesn't say anything, but people usually pretend he did, and reply to it. I think Link talking would ruin the series for many. Also this is another reason why.

Well the world is divided into provinces.  Ordon, Faron, Eldin, Lanayru, Peak, and Desert also hyrule feild connects most of them.  Now each has different physical properties, but you could visit anywhere in the game after you already went to the region. So if you mean by "seamless" as in being able to go anywhere then yes.

Haha, is that the legendary Panasonic game?

But come on! In this day and age and with all the cash Ninty's got, I'm sure they can get some decent voice actors. How are people okay with character-less characters? Especially when you're controlling that character? Alas, Nintendo is far too conservative and its fans have a far greater voice than I do....

No I'm all for voice acting. Just link shouldn't talk. He never had any written script, and usually midna, navi, etc would talk for him.  Zelda, Ganondarf, etc should talk though. Its the same for metriod. They put voice acting in metroid prime 3, but samus didn't say one word.

No, and that's my major annoyance with this game. I loved how WW was an open world. The world in TP is even more closed off and more bottlenecked than MM and OoT. There isn't one big central hub area, just a bunch of tinier ones. I never felt like the land was connected and that I was exploring a wide open world. It just felt like a bunch of small areas put together with tiny entrances (the bottlenecks).

Anyways I don't mean to spoil the game. It was great, just really didn't live up to my (albeit high) expectations.

It's better than nothing. I guess I've always preferred my heroes to be more like Charles Barkley than Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods.

Also some other high points of the game are its length and the number of mini quests there are. Oh and there is alot of hidden dungeons and caves too, so after you beat the game, or if you want to take a break from the main quest you should try them out. OH and the boss fights like the windwaker's are amazing, but easy. So you should have fun with those too. Some negative points are that the game is pretty repetitive, but not too much, and the world feels kinda empty.

Yeah, I am playing Okami right now, and I am honestly a lot more perturbed by its cutscenes than MGS4's. I still love Okami though.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

akuma999: Okami gets better.

some others: Nintendo hates voice acting.

Jman: great thread...loved the deception. MGS4 may have lots of cutscenes, but so do other games that people love.
