NOOO. One of my biggest pet peeves in videogame storytelling is the silent protagonist. Compared to the average person, I would say I'm pretty shy. Why do I have to be a mute in a fantasy game?

I actually didn't mind the mute thing in Wind Waker though because the facial expressions in that game were one of the biggest achievements Nintendo made. Every feeling of anger or sadness or frustration was conveyed with such force and eloquence that Link really didn't have to say a word for me to understand what's going through his head. If only more games could capture this.

Trust me, link belongs silent. His companions usually do the talking for him anyway. Also when somebody asks him a question or something he doesn't say anything, but people usually pretend he did, and reply to it. I think Link talking would ruin the series for many. Also this is another reason why.
