Forums - Nintendo - What's all the fuss about smash bros brawl?????

It really annoys me when people complain about it being pretty much the same game as Melee.

It's a fighting game, what do you expect? Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur etc etc. They haven't changed at all in the last decade.

The difference with those games is that they didn't hype us 'til our balls turned a dark purple, and feed us scraps on a site for months and months, convincing us we were blessed. This game was hyped beyond oblivion, so I'd expect a little more.

At least Brawl adds a few new fighting mechanics (tripping ftw, lol), balance the gameplay from what I hear, and adds a whole bunch of unique characters.

I use quite a few Brawl characters, some of which aren't in Meele, while alternating among them. Even though I haven't played Meele before, I can say for sure that I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if it wasn't Brawl instead... Still, even if I was a Meele veteran, I don't see how the new characters don't make it worth it, especially considering OkeyDokey's point about fighting game.

A sequel is like any sequel just an upgrade on the previous installment. Developers make sequels to successful games because it is guaranteed success because of an existing fan base.

For some reason I am not enjoying this game a hundreth as much as I expected. Melee was my favourite game last gen and I thought I would be immediately in love with Brawl. Part of it might be I am not as good as I thought given I was a Melee pro. I am struggling to beat the computer on Level 9 difficulty but on Melee Level 9 was never a problem. I have only had the game since Friday night so I should be patient and get to know it better but I don't seem to be having the patience for that.

I somewhat agree. While i did really enjoy melee, and finished pretty much most of the game, i never saw it as the be all and end all of nintendo games like a lot of my friends did.
I'm an Aussie, and just got brawl, and i pretty much feel the same as i did with melee. I will enjoy it, but it's never going to be my favourite Wii game.
I'd still rate Corruption higher, and mariokart as a better multiplayer.

I don't know what you're talking about. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the best game since Super Mario Galaxy, maybe even since Half-Life 2 or maybe even since Ocarina of Time.
It's the most viable contestant for best game ever this generation, hands-down.

By the way: it beats Melee in everything. From balance to singleplayer-value, from graphics to number of unique characters.
And don't even let me mention the soundtrack of this game, or in other words: the greatest game soundtrack ever.

Of course, this is all just my humble opinion. I really don't care about what other people think about this game too much. It's THAT good.

Thank you Nintendo, even for Europe it was worth the wait.

Bet With routsounmanman: By the end of Q1 2008 Capcom WONT have announced a RE5 Wii Edition OR a new RE (classic gameplay) for the Wii (WON)

I'm glad their moves didn't change much, they worked well in the last game so why alter them? I've had most fun playing on new stages (Ice Climbers have a good one this time!), listening to music and using new characters. Sub-space was also pretty good; although it did get repetitive near the end... it could’ve been shortened

honestly, I think Brawl lived up to its hype exactly, it just didn't exceed it, still though, that's an incredible accomplishment considering how much hype it got compared to most other games.
Melee was already an incredible game. The only thing you could do for it was clean up the character balance, add a few more options like co-op mode, add in some customization features and bulk up the Single Player side so it has a solid storyline as far as fighting games go.

It's not the be all and end all of Nintendo games, but i think it could be safely said that it's pretty much the be all and end all of fighting games.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!
