And thats the issue. GRiD looks generic - ala NFS:PS, and others. Despite being good to great, it lacks the ability to differentiate between the competion. Someone else mentioned fighters, and I agree - when was the last fighter to easily eclipse 1m? SSBM? It's the most unique in a genre that sees many similar fighters.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
I don't think racers are a dying breed, I think the audience have gotten a little picky in later years. With todays powerhouse gaming machines and incredible sound/picture tech it gets easier by the day to spot the boring or perennial games from afar and this is what is killing some of these games (saleswise).
The game has scored decent reviews here at home but for the life of me, I cannot fathom why.
I play about 1/4 of GRID so far. The racing aspect is solid , graphic look good, car handling is good (I actually like it better than PGR4) and it play really good with racing wheel (to my surprise).
I agree that it is probably the best racer this year, I definitely play it more than GT5P (that game while very pretty, get real boring real fast).
On-line is not bad but I heard the game is also quite buggy, so may be the reason for poor sale? I was hoping by the time the game release here in the US it would have been patch but it still hasn't. Although I have yet to run into any bug or freeze that were reported when the game release in Europe.
Well, there's also crap tons of FPS titles.
Anyway, back to playing GRID. I guess I am hoping it would do well so it would get sequel as it is a fun game and with improvement it would be great game.
unproven IP
What the f**K is "GRID"???
Where are all the ads?
Also, on the eve of GT5P and MGS4????
all of that contributed to poor sales.
