Well, I have played FPSs on both the Wii and 360 and can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that if I were to use dual analog and someone else were to use something like the WiiMote, I would handidly win. Mouse and keyboard is another story. They did not increase enemy count for the Halo 1/2 ports for PC and the control scheme there was different. Then again I could not stand the pc controls on that game. Something about how they handle momentum with your movement is different than pc games. I think it is because of the fact that either you are pressing the 's' key or your not, there is no degree for speed of movement. Let me stop rambling now.

I call BS on that claim, it's much faster to aim with a IR controller.

Unfortunately, this is probably not something we can test.

My guess would be that eventually a FPS with multiplayer will release on Wii with both IR and Classic/Gamecube Controller schemes... once that game is released, you could probably test it.  My guess? IR wins unless the dual-analog has auto-aim while IR does not.

Here's hoping for that. You don't even need FPS experience to realize that, anyone who has played the shooting game in Wii Play would quickly see how fast one can aim and shoot with the Wii Remote.

It reminds of the PS360 (or previous-gen) owners who think they could own PC players at FPSs (yes, such characters seem to exist in real life).

Here is a video for those who think they could beat the WiiRemote with analog sticks:

I could not care less about how this game will be controlled. Not going to buy anyway. :)

@NJ5

Could you keep those ugly wii game videos out of microsoft discussion? :(

Motion-Controlling has no use for Re5. The pointer-control with the sensorbar would be useful for Re5 but it seems that the new MS-Controller and the new Sony-Controller both has only motion controls.

The Wiimote has a concept based on motion-controls, pointer-controls with sensorbar, rumble, speaker. If there a miss of one or two of these things the controller would be only a gimmick, and so are the new controllers of ms/sony.

*snipped*

Holy god, I need to practice my Wii Play more... I'm gonna get destroyed when The Conduit comes out.

Edit: And yes, I've seen the people that think they could stand up to a K+M with their dual analog in an FPS.  All I can say is, they're flat out wrong.  You can't twitch nearly fast enough with dual analog.  Hell, on max sensitivity of my mouse I still can barely twitch fast enough sometimes.

LOL, FPSs are not just about aiming well. It is also about moving around the environment(Well, in a good game that is). WiiMote controls for moving around are just not that great.  Yes, if I were to play duck-hunt on a dual analog that would be difficult.  LOL.

In case you aren't aware, the Nunchuk has an analog stick which can be (and often is) used for movement.

I know that. Either way, you are either trading off straffing or you are moving the pointer to the edge of the screen to turn. Lots of swinging of the arm to turn from one direction to the other, and then to play the dueling dance with someone(this is what I call a one on one encounter in FPS games) just does not seem very good on a WiiMote.

It's not swinging of the arm, it's a flick of the hand unless you have a huge sensor bar. In Metroid Prime 3 (with Advanced controls) you don't even need to move the pointer to the edge to turn. With adjustable turning speed, you'll be turning as fast, and aiming more precisely than with analog sticks. As soon as you're on the Wiimote player's screen, you're dead.
