Forums - Sales - This years 360 vs ps3 sales

The 360 is still the best HDDVD player in town so I expect 360 sales to go up 100k next week.

Thanks, but if they do it'll devaluate my original copy...

on topic: do you really think that 'll make a big difference?

I'd say current 360 is already somewhat affordable as opposed to the ps3 which still is 'too' expensive for a lot of people. Sony will offcourse counter another pricecut right?

This kind of bothers me. The 360 units that are getting bought the most are the Pros and the Elites. How is $50 more than a Pro, but $50 less than an Elite considered "too expensive" still? Like I've said time and time again, when the $400 Premium 360 first came out, no one complained that it was too expensive, so why is the same price all of a sudden too much when it comes to PS3.

On topic:

I will agree that a $299 model 360 will sell extremely well...in the US. The price cut in Europe didn't really help against the competition

But i believe the elite includes 5 games, so i wonder whether you are able to get your ps3 with five top-games and still can say the difference remains whithin the 50 bucks....

It is logical that you would buy a system with games, because the games will be cheaper than purchasing them apart. If you look at the 'core' system :  200 bucks ain't that much of a difference right???????

The very first pricecut by Ms will probably be followed by Sony and vice versa. Don't you agree that considering current sales Sony has or will be getting the upper hand.

PS3 outselling 360 already WW and 360 cheaper! Once PS3 reaches $299, we'll see a hell of alot of gamers jump on board

I don't think Sony need to worry as long as they keep shipping 80gb bundle.

Yeah Sony wouldnt need to worry if they continue to supply an $50 controller and a $60 game with the 80GB except for the extra losses that would entail.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Not me! HDDVD 4 eva! Right guys! Guys?

Sony sold well more PS3s than Microsoft sold 360s last year. For the first quarter this year Sony sold 1 million more PS3s than Microsoft sold 360s.

Overall for North America the PS3 sold well more than the 360 for 2008 so far (according to NPD, MGS4 will probably see the PS3 on top for June as well). Both the 360 price cut and potential availability of more PS3 80GB units will affect this.

For Europe and Japan IMO there's no contest really, the PS3 sells a lot more and recent 360 pricecuts were unable to affect this at all.

The gap is getting smaller.

PS3 vs 360 sales

@ Cracksmoke

You kidding? There was a reason it was hundreds cheaper than other players when it came out.

OT: The PS3 is far off, but still little bits each week have made a difference.
