Forums - Gaming - which genre will dominate next?

ill say action adventure games will be next in the spotlight not including minigames

I think Music games are actually dominating right now...sad to say.

casual gaming genre

Probably MMORPG seeing as WoW and Age of Conan and Guild Wars are taking over everything.

WoW has like 15 million copies sold and 10 million active subscribers, thats pretty crazy.

I agree with reptile. Casual gaming. It's unfortunate but it's a possibility.

I'd love for 3D puzzle games like portal to rule the next few years.

I disagree. They're popular, but even Guitar Hero is still outdone by other franchises and that's by far the largest one. And what else is there, Rock Band? Are they making a sequel to that?

It will be much larger, but there are going to have to be a lot more series in the genre.

I think Third Person Action/Shooters - Gears of War proved that it can be used to tell a story AND have a good competitive or coop element. There has already been a shift and it will continue in that direction. GTA IV continued. Lego. It keeps going. Look at the top sellers this gen for HD consoles. DMC, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Dead Rising, Kain and Lynch, Lost Planet, Mass Effect, Saints Row, Crackdown, MGS4, Heavenly Sword.... There were a good share of FPS, but I think this trend will continue.

Imagine if Uncharted, No More Heroes, etc. had had a multiplayer element... wow.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

CASUAL IS NOT A GENRE!!!

and I doubt fighter will take over from FPS

adventure games every region likes them i think
