suprised no one mentioned steven spielberg.(wrong spelling probably)

You are only 7 (EDIT: 8) different opinions into your thread. You'll see Speilburd, Copolla, DePalma (maybe not), Scorsese, Hitchcock, etc come later.

I had forgotten about Hitchcock. Love his work.

(EDIT: Okr had not put his list when I made this post.)

Sorry for the extremely long post. I don't know how to edit spaces between lines.

Press your shift key when pressing enter to change line. It allows you to move only one
space down instead

of one and a half.

That easy? I should've asked earlier... Thank you, Dogs Rule!

My long post is a bit shorter now.

Guy Ritchie. Snatch, Lock Stock and Revolver all rock. I'm not going to go into the movies with his wife.
Judd Apatow gets a nod as well. The few movies that he has directed have been awesome, hes a much better producer and writer though.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

If I had to chose only one it would be a tough call between Lubitsch, Wilder, Cukor and Chaplin.
I think more and more that comedies are the hardest genre to write and direct (especially when I look at the many crappy comedy movies of today - Pixar's movies and the 1st Shrek are the only remarkable comedies of recent years imo).

Hmm...my vote goes to one of the greatest of movie history: Charlie Chaplin.

Chaplin was an actor, writer, producer, director and composer. Or simply: a genius.

i may get flamed but mine is Michael Bay.

It's in the public domain!!! I highly recommend it. It's great.

Charlie Chaplin was one of the best.

I gotta give some props to David Lynch, Jean-Luc Godard, Luis Buñuel, Paul Thomas Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Luc Besson, and Akira Kurosawa for now too.

Terantino and Tim Burton
