Forums - Gaming - how an IDEAL CONSOLE should be?

Hello Guys!

 I wanted to share my opinions about how an ideal console should be and I would be glad to see your comments and suggestions about it too.

For me, an ideal console should be

- Small and compact

- Silent (without any noisy fans or CDrom drives!)

- Inexpensive (that I wouldnt have to pay a fortune on it)

- Technologically Effiicient (meaning little little electric consumption, high system stability, no heating problems etc.)

And considering all this, I have prepared a comparative chart for all the prominent consoles. Because I have never used NES, Xbox360, PS3 and Wii myself, I just wrote my impressions based on what I have seen from friends and other people. Here is our table...

It seems like Nintendo produces the ideal consoles and MS has nowhere near it. The Price Criteria considers the Launch prices and Sega MS means Sega Master System (8 bit NES rival).

Edit : I just changed the table, readjusting the GC and N64 as objected.

Playstation 5 vs XBox Series Market Share Estimates

Regional Analysis  (only MS and Sony Consoles)
Europe     => XB1 : 23-24 % vs PS4 : 76-77%
N. America => XB1 :  49-52% vs PS4 : 48-51%
Global     => XB1 :  32-34% vs PS4 : 66-68%

Wait, I gotta take difference... N64 is too expensive, but PS wasn't? PS was $300 at launch, and N64 was $200. And the NES was too big? The Master System was bigger.

And I dunno about you, but my GC spins rather loudly...

Other than that, I think it's a bit cheap to stick in the re-models for the PS lines without adding the top-loading NES or the redesigned SNES, or the different versions of Genesis.

PS was $300 but N64 was more expensive (at least in Europe). You could buy Saturn and Playstation combined for the money you would get an N64.

Well, NES was certainly smaller than Xbox or PS3 but much bigger than other Nintendo consoles right? (I admitted that I never played NES myself).

Well the results of those standards shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Nintendo prides itself on its ability to make quality consoles for less.

Sony and Microsoft's pride is in their abillity to shove as much technology into one system as possible, quality is their sub standards.

Have you ever seen DC on work? Its ıncredibly loud! Damn it

Adjust for inflation, please. The PS3 is efficient, considering it meets 2 of your criteria at least. Not sure why you think the PS2 is so much larger than the PS1.

Whatever.

I don't understand why it has to be small and compact unless you live in a closet or box... I would think a good game library would be far more important for an "ideal console".

Compact is always nice because face it, a lot of gamers have consoles dating as far back as NES. I do. What am I up to now... 7 home consoles and 4 handhelds. The Wii was wonderful for me. That's not even counting the DVD players and VCR that I have. Some people don't stop there, theres your cable box, your sound mixer I think (not sure what it's called but you need one for monster speakers for the TV.) Anyone got any others?

Not everyone has an 8 foot entertainment unit afterall.

I'm not sure how you arrived at some of your classifications.  N64 is expensive but Wii is not?  PS is small but NES is not?  There are more, but you get the gist of it.

Well, isn't the original PS2 roughly twice as thick as the original PS?  The slimline PS2, on the other hand...
