I really think they should. Firstly we all know that microsoft no matter what they do cannot increase sales in japan. Now this may change once some jrpgs come out, but it is in no way the only console getting jrpgs, and seeing as 1/6th of japan own the ds they could get most of their rpgs from there, or the wii which is also getting a considerable amount.  Secondly Sony has basically ignored japan since the ps3s launch.There hasn't been one big game on the system that the japanese would like, and it seems to be focused too much on the west. Now if SCEJ started to release some more games i could see sales boosting to at least 20k. Maybe even 25k, and that could help the ps3 alot. Thirdly I would also like to point out that peopel who say that two consoles can't coexist in japan are wrong, and the psp almost reaching 10mil shows this. While the ps3 wouldn't thrive as much as the wii it will still live. So who else thinks this is who sony should target more?

They should release a slimline PS3 and bring the 1500 series to their console. That should bring a mild boost in sales.

Should probably focus more or give up....their current lack luster support in Japan just doesn't appear to be cutting it.

Microsoft is not the problem with Sony in Japan, its obviously Nintendo. Japan is now incredibly casual which is what the PS3 is not.

Well that isn't much of sony rather than square enix.

Sony is not going to ditch their main audience (a good combination of hardcore and casual) and go compete with Nintendo. Unlike Microsoft and their Xmote and Mii-wannabe. Sony will stand it's ground until Final Fantasy.

Proof? And who said microsoft was a problem? I said they weren't one. Also nintendo is doing great in japan, but that doesn't mean the ps3 can't either.( coming from a big nintendo fanboy).

DS, PS1, PS2, Wii. Does that even need an explanation?

Hardcore gamers buy game on day 1 (look at FF and MGS4 sales number), casual gamers buy stuff whenever, (look at legs of MKWii and Wiifit)

you can even argue that SMG and MP3's failure to attract attention is due to the oversized casual fanbase

Ehh, Galaxy did okay in Japan, a little better than Sunshine if it counts for anything. Pretty low for the series though.

As for Corruption, the Japanese haven't liked Metroid since it took the change to 3D. It didn't do much worse than Metroid Prime did in Japan.
