Forums - Microsoft - Will 360 sales now pick up speed following mgs4?

I think that 360 could possibly pick up but not until later in the year. While MGS4 did see a dropoff this week I believe it will still carry some momentum especially with new shipments of 80gb bundles. (Which I might add was a very good move by Sony.)

Microsoft has a pretty good lineup for the 2nd half of this year especially in Q4. However a lot will depend on the timing of a price-cut and the success of major titles on both the PS3 and 360 (and of course E3). The MMOs that will be released on the 360 should also move a few consoles since some of them like Age of Conan require a high-end rig to play and it would be cheaper to play them on the 360 even if you don't already have them.

For now Sony has the momentum and it's possible that MS could take it back for a bit but I think Sony will eventually edge out the 360 in Hardware sales by the end of this generation or sooner. (profit and software remain up for grabs though) Btw I am not Sony's biggest fan by any means but hats off to them for the success of MGS4 and the bundle

Consoles Owned: Sega Genesis, NES, PS2 (RIP) N64, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii

360 sales have actually been contracting in Others over the last few weeks, but that's probably just the summer lull.

It only dropped 5% world sales the week of mgs4 launch.

I wouldn’t call that a contraction allowing for margin of error.

for it to pick up speed,it needs a price drop

That's why I said "weeks." I'll even bold it for you.

78,429 - 74,498 - 66,715 - 63,500

As I've learned from crazzyman (yes, I'm having a hard time believing that I just wrote that) no other system has seen a steady drop in the same time frame.

that is in others ww is a little different.

ps3          360

159,549     142,215

147,484      132,932

 141,325      140,585

 146,181      135,696

As you can see slightly better figures for my argument.

both consoles up and down.

I think both companies will look at overall sales and not just particular regions.

I think 360 is going to move ahead of ps3 over the next couple of weeks and maintain it.

Ya see...now after E3 could make sense, but a good game coming out on another console doesn't make the 360 sell better. It just means that the boost the PS3 got will start to go down.

yes sorry my title was misleading that is what I meant but unfortunatley you cannot edit the title.

america proves my point one week after mgs4 360 is ahead again.
next week europe.

Umm, 360 sales actually dropped the week after MGS4. Which is kind of the opposite of picking up speed.
