Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Dragonquest IV will be published by Ubisoft on New Zealand and Australia

Have they even released a game recently? E3 isn't far away, either. Singling out one developer when most of them are acting the same way isn't very productive.

Let's look at some of the biggest publishers on the planet:

1) Nintendo obviously isn't acting like this.

2) EA is putting some real (even for hardcore players) effort into their Wii titles, from the 'Call Your Shots' feature in Madden to other titles like Skate It, etc.

3) Activision is making GH4 feature-complete on Wii.

5)THQ is giving us some interesting looking games like Deadly Creatures, de Blob, etc.

7) Sega is giving us Samba de Amigo ('nuff said)

And although not in the same league size-wise,

Capcom is giving us MM9 (although possibly not exclusive, it's obviously not shovelware), and has given us plenty to like them about already and in the future (spyborgs)

*MOST* of Ubi's competition is NOT acting like them.  *MOST* of them are giving the Wii quality games, and saying otherwise is misinformed at best.

To add to alpha_dk's post, Activision is also bringing Call of Duty 5 to the Wii including multiplayer support.

Dunno, maybe in Oceania Ubisoft does publish SE games, but here in Europe and in N.A. SE publish all of their games on their own. Ubisoft is just their distribution partner in most european countries, not all of them. For instance in Germany its Koch Media, in Greece Diaktis, etc... Ubisoft has no influence whether or not which SE game will be published.

This should be about DQIV, not Ubisoft´s bussiness plan.

@ Yushire It says distribution agreement, not publishing.

AH OK so thats different then. SORRY so whats the difference then?

end of core gaming days prediction:

publisher: prints the booklet, game medium, cover and back-cover. Advertises and markets the game. His brandname is printed on the game. Ships the game units to its distributors. Earns brutto income per unit sold to retailers and pays with it the developers, distributors, marketing company and licensing fees. What´s left is the total netto income.

distributor: distributes the game to retailers and gets paid for this job from the publisher.

AH OK THANKS for the clarification but why Squeenix needs a big publisher to just distribute a game anyway?

They probably just don't have the connections in place to do it, and it's cheaper for them to give it to Ubi to distribute it than to make those connections themselves, since Ubi is presumably doing it for their own games anyways.
