Spore will be the GOTY for most people.

Others straying from the pack will have MGS4, GeoW2, or GTA4.

GTAIV (unrightly so, I mean it's a worthy contender, but it doesn't deserve 98 on metacritic)

Brawl

Spore (IF it delivers, which I think it will)

If GTA4 wins game of the year I'll laugh at how lame the judges are... The PS2 games were much better...

So for these look like solid contenders, we'll have to wait and see how the later half of 2008 titles turn out.

There's no need to name the other candidates, GTA4 will be GOTY without even a fight. It's got high review scores from a ton of different sites (and if they were paid, they can just be paid again to give it GOTY), it's incredibly mainstream and it will appeal to most of the people who visit gaming sites such as Gamespot or IGN.

That said, LittleBigPlanet might have a chance because the PS3 hasn't gotten a GOTY yet. But don't hold your breath. And yes, Spore also has a large chance as well.

the same Gamespot & IGN gave MGS4 a 10..
