Forums - Sony Discussion - MGS4 framerate ~27 FPS average.

fps usually arent that big of a deal on consoles 27 isn't that surprising in a few areas of the game i noticed a bit during the 2nd part of act 3 after u meet somebody, but are they talking average for the whole game or just during the big battles or outside environments because i dont think that happens indoors usaully. since none of this is really to noticeable it doesn't affect the game at all

Settle down people! Seriously, since this is a game thats used to talk up the PS3's graphics capabilities its good to have more of the facts rather than biased opinions.

THE FRAME RATE ISN'T BAD.

Its quite acceptable for the genre and style of game. If it wasn't we'd be hearing a LOT more about it as some people would be just as keen to attack this game as others are to defend it.

But disolitude says that this frame rate report is proof that MGS4's shit stinks.  He's gross, I don't really even know what that means.

exactly, I wasn't sure if these numbers were good or bad, but when someone says it's bad in the first few posts that is what people will start to think.

And I'm pretty sure he meant that MGS 4 fans act as if the bad aspects of MGS4 aren't bad.

"LOL. Thanks for this. While this doesn't take anything away form the game and how good it is...there are lots of people on the site that pretend MGS4 shit dont stink. "

Sorry, not everyone is born with airfresheners in their butt.

@Montana - Thanks!

This has been quite civilized. Woot!

Hmm I wonder if it's GPU limited or ram limited, I doubt its CPU limited for obvious reasons... I'd swing towards GPU because of the fact that particle effects really slow the system down.

Yeah, I'd probably go with GPU limited as well. Afterall, the Cell is used to help out the GPU...and don't a lot of developers say the GPU is the bottleneck of the system or something?

I am not but honestly would anyone be surprised if a year by now we had a 360 version?

Chances are though if there ever were one it would actually perform better on the 360 than the PS3, even such a high profile PS3 title as MGS4.

The 360 and PS3 are actually very close in power. Both just have completely different architectures. The only games I'm aware of that would make someone think that are the ones ported from the 360 to the PS3. Games developed side by side for both tend to run very similarly. Example: DMC4. It might perform better in some areas of the 360, but worse in others. The PS3 and 360 have different advantages and disadvantages to each other.

Hmm - The 360 has a slightly smaller OS footprint (Wierd how Microsoft is considered to make bloated operating systems!) So it has slightly more realizable ram and a more flexible architecture as to how its aportioned.

The graphics performance on the 360 is generally accepted to be moderately better than the PS3 or about the same once you account for the cell helping out the RSX so thats easy.

The CPU, well since nothing yet uses more than 50% of the Cells power aparantly and the cell is about 2x faster than the Xenon, yet the Xenon is easier to push performance out of. So this would make me think that theres no problem there.

The game is long and its linear - so multiple disks are definately doable.

Yup - I would say they could do it on the 360.

Tease.

Nah, I wasn't saying that it couldn't be done on the 360. He was just saying that it would run better on the 360. I was just pointing out that the 2 systems are very similar in power but completely different hardware wise. There are some things you can optimize better on the PS3 and some things you can optimize better on the 360. My guess is that if they made a 360 version that it would be better in some areas but worse in others.

How could this be possible? Before I bought my PS3, Sony told me that all my games will be running at 1080P and 60FPS. Clearly you must be mistaken on your FPS numbers for MGS4, because I know Sony wouldn't lie to me like that!!!

Currently Playing:

PS4 - Killzone:SF and Assasins Creed 4

XBox One: BF4, CoD:Ghosts, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5

Changing channels with my voice: priceless!!!

@Lone: I was agreeing with you and adding my own thoughts. :)

Tease.

Never noticed.Too much fun,to nitpick.
