No, she specified gamecube and SC2 was the only one out of the 3 that was on that system. Also, why specify gamecube when clearly the PS2 SC2 sold the most of all the "versions" whether version means soul calibur or console? Nice try, though, but I think she should stop. |
I think you need to stop. Yopu made two of the exact same post man. But, whatever. It's over. let's move on. Now, the Wii has been a little of a WHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA for developers. Most of the ports and bad games result of being thrown off guard. I beleive in the future that Wii will get better software. Some of the spin offs(Umbrella Chronicals) look good. But, in the end the Wii isn't going to get the main franchises. It's going to get the good spin offs and new IPs. A few good IPs have been made for it. There is an RPG from Koie(can't spell name) and Boogie from EA. Wii will get some nice soft ware, but no SC, GTA, RE, FF all that stuff. But, once developers relize that their side game sell better then their mains. Just give it some time. The Wii will get some steam and we'll get some more 3rd party support. |
Thanks, QFT. Of course the big OLD IPs will stay on the systems. They all began development a year or more ago and no one was prepared for the Wii at all (including this game btw). That hardly means developers have forsaken the Wii, or even doomed it to 3rd string development teams. It just means that it will have new, from the ground up, games.
Btw, I'm also going to reinforce the point I made a page back (haven't been back to this topic in a while so I couldn't defend my statement). The list you presented from Ubisoft development does not change their own statement that they intend to focus heavy development on making quality Wii games. That list shows no effect on the change in their development, because they JUST started developing. We won't see the effects of that shift for at least a year.
This applies to everything in the industry right now. Due to the difficulty of development for the PS3 and 360, all the big games were started long before launch, and long before the Wii became a phenomenon. So what you are seeing right now are frantic 3rd party crap titles tossed out as fast as possible. Of course, this will continue to happen throughout the Wii's life, but what you are missing is the slowdown in development for the PS3 and 360. When was the last time you heard a new PS3 and 360 game begin development? When was the last time you heard of a single big name game that hadn't begun development more than a year ago for the PS3 and 360? Granted, the Wii doesn't have a whole lot of these but at least companies are starting to express the desire to change that. You won't notice the drying up of software for the 2 systems till 2009, because you have big titles set for release through 08, but I stake my 20 years of gaming on this statement. There will be a HUGE software dryup in 2009 on the 360 and PS3, and the shift in development of big titles to the Wii will become apparent in 2008.
Most big Wii games will be new IPs, but these new IPs will become the focus of developers when the old ones have dismal sales. Square Enix is a prime example. What's the PSP getting from them right now? 8 games, 6 of them are remakes of old games. The DS is getting 14 games, and only 2 of them are remakes (and actually one of those, FFIII, doesn't count since it was never released outside of Japan). If you don't think they will do this with home consoles too you are fooling yourself. Developers shift focus to systems that will make them money. That's the simple, basic, and easy to understand truth. It's been proven time and time again. The same thing happened with the PSone, and again with the PS2.
