Forums - PC - Radeon 4870 beats the GTX260 by 6% With AA/AF/Only 10% behind GTX280!!

The AMD 4870 thrashes the price/performance ratio of BOTH the 260 and 280 from Nvidia! This is R300 all over again, so when the dust settles it looks like AMD will have the performance crown for Single card setups with the 4870x2.

Heres the source, so make up your own mind haha.

I pick AMD as the winner in this round of the GPU wars.

Thank you Chinese!

Awesome, I knew I should have waited to see which was better. I might get this or just wait some more to see what else may be coming.

Impressive, but i will always stick with Nvidia mainly because i get MASSIVE discounts off them. Lol

Uh oh, how much does it cost? *edit* that link says $299*

I don't know about ATI, but I'd probably stick with Nvidia because of the lifetime warranties from BFG, EVGA, or XFX and my already positive experience in getting a dead card replaced from BFG with a brand new one.

Heres whats left - 4870-1gb for High resolution screens.

4870x2 (May have 1 or! 2gb of GDDR5)

GTX280+/260+ (Smaller and maybe higher performance)

But if you wait too long then you might end up not getting anything.

I'm just looking through the test results, and I am astounded.
I mean, I was impressed with 4850, but ATI is now officially take the fucking cake!
The 4870 is priced at 229$ if I remember correct?

Jesus christ, these results are... mindblowing!

$299, but point stands, yes.

Now think about who will have the best performance for $600+ ... and it's not going to be the GTX280.

If it was at $229, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat lol since that's only $30 more than the 4850. Later on in the link, (I think the last page) it says $299 US.

Are there any radeon manufacturers that offer lifetime warranties like BFG, XFX, or EVGA for Nvidia cards?

Okay, 299$
I still can't wrap my head around the fact that it outperforms the GTX280 in some of these tests :S
