 Microsoft didnt pay 50 mill for the downloadable content.

When Rockstar was going trough a rough spot financially MS LEND them 50 mil free of interest on the condition that GTAIV would release simultaneously on both machines and MS would get at least 2 exclusive downloadable episodes. The first 50 Million to be generated(plus costs) with the DLC will immediatly go to MS with any money above that dealt with in the regular Live licensing fashion. If the content fails to generate enough money to pay MS back the 50 mill they were lend Rockstar will have to pay back in full.

 

MS Made a pretty sound deal there.

 As always game discussion is dominated by the very vocal minority. The "many" you speak of are almost certainly a very small minority of gamers who bought the game.

 

Go to any forum and mention GTA4.It is synomanous with disappointment.The internet is not a minority.

Yeah just last night I went to this real life oak tree forum where people carve their messages in the tree and they all talked about what a dissapointment GTAIV was.

It was an advance, based upon regular royalties paid for DLC/other software.

So technically a loan, but not a first $50 goes directly to Microsoft but rather first $50 that would have gone to Take 2 under normal arranagements goes to pay Microsoft back.

For this, Take 2 got working capital to stay alive. So from its end, it was worth it. From Microsoft's will remain to be seen.
