Forums - General - Highlander Remake in 2010, you play casting director

Well, it's been rumored and confirmed a new Highlander movie is being released in 2010, a remake of the original Highlander film.

Writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who recently pinned Iron Man are up for the script, but no actors have been announced. Davis is back to produce, but unfortunately Bill Panzer passed away last year. This film, unlike the recent godaweful Highlander: The Source is an fully funded theatrical remake based off the original movie and series mythology(No Highlander 2) as it should be since it is a remake of the original film. To reitterate, this is a pure remake of Highlander 1.

Now, the original Highlander is a legendary picture, and certainly a cult classic and one of my favorites. I must admit to being quite the Highlander fanboy.

The original film also had amazing music from Queen, a really great band as you all know.

The recent Kawajiri animted film was also excellent as well as the Highlander series which won an Emmy for best dramatic series in its first season.

Anyway, I really hope that the movie turns out well, and it certainly has budget and writers going for it. Here are my picks for casting and directing:

Connor MacLeod

should be played by Christian Bale:

The Kurgan

should be played by Clive Owen(this one was tough)

Ramirez

Should be played by Liam Neeson

The director should be:
Christopher Nolan

He directed Momento, The Prestige, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight

What do you think about it all, and who would you pick if you were casting director or producer?

Also, this is obligatory, "There can be only one!"

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Hrm. Where are you seeing that Highlander won an Emmy?

The first movie was awesome. They just released a movie straight to video a few months back, but of course it was Duncan MacCleod. I actually liked the series when I would watch reruns on Spike.
Your choices for actors aren't bad at all though.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

I love the idea of Liam Neeson! I haven't heard anything new about this project, are they still planning the remake?

I like your picks except for Owen, who I just can't buy The Kurgan. I'm not sure who I'd pick, though... maybe Kevin Durand. He's got the size, and he can play a shitkicker pretty well.

Or maybe Clancy Brown could just reprise his role. He did a similar one in Pathfinder not all that long ago.
