The bottom of the white one is smooth. I would say that "rough" is an exaggeration when talking about the others, but there is definitely a difference.

Personally, I didn't have a problem with the difference in texture. I have a white one as well, and I've never really thought it looked "dirty". I guess if your hand-washing habits are irregular, it might be an issue. The white definitely shows fingerprints less, though.
