They have left a PRICECUT in USA/Europe =)
199-249$/euro.

This will extend some x360 life. Who knows, maybe even to 200k per week. But, how much THIS pricecut will cost to M$... =)) I believe, it will be easier to release x720 at 399$.

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

PS3 outsold the X360 by 190k in weekly console sales. 320k V's 130k. Thanks to the MGS 4 launch. Momentum building for PS3 with increased weekly sales and growing demand for the PS3. X360 is tanking along with roughly 130k sales a week and people are buying PS3's and wii's instead of the unreliable X360.

"PS3 will not sell below 200k weekly sales for the rest of its life time". mark my words on that.

The 360 will be lucky if it reaches total LTD of 40 million. But I reckon total 360's will reach 36.0 million.

Who cares what sales of the console are like.

As long as 360 owners keep buying games and 3rd party vendors continue their strong support and owner should be happy. In this generation console sales are pretty meaningless so far.

Wii is still outselling everything (except this last week because of MGS4) and 3rd parties are still not jumping on with their AAA games... 360 has been outsold by PS3 since December, but 3rd parties are still bringing all the same games to it. PS3 has the natural advantage from winning the last generation, but content makers are showing more support to Microsoft then Sony so far. Console sales are only one part to the equation and for the other parts, Microsoft is not sinking at all.

360 has been internally haemorrhaging since it launched world wide, Japan caused this, they were like a clot in the aorta before it ruptured and now because of this 360 is having a very painful and slow death, not to say it will die tomorrow of course, but you get the picture.

In order for Microsoft to stop this they have to do 2 things, 1) start selling very well in Japan, some thing not even god himself can achieve in my opinion, and 2) not allow the PS3 to catch up nor surpass it. Otherwise at the rate their 360 going they'll end up 3rd place.

How is it possible that 360 is sinking? I've read some weird articles that 360 is bringing in profit for sold consoles at the moment. Looks like it sells quite a few games too and don't forget live subscriptions. :)

How much Sony loses per one Ps3 sold? 200$?
