Forums - Sony Discussion - MGS; New series or a Continuation?

Haven't heard anything about that, but you can always get the individual versions of each one. That might cost you a little more, though. You could also watch them on youtube if you have to.

I know that I can buy it seperatly. But if there's a collection out there, I'd prefer it.
I already have Prince of Persia: Trilogy, and planning on getting Call of Duty Trilogy also. It would be nice If I could get MGS one.

I hear ya, but the best versions of MGS2 and MGS3 (and arguably MGS1) aren't in the collection. MGS2 Substance and MGS3 Subsistence are the way to go if you want the best versions. Twin Snakes (for GC) is arguably better, as well.

Substance and Subsistence are in the Essential Collection. Subsistence lacks the second disc, though. TTS, from what I've seen and heard, is actually the worse version. Yes, its graphics are a lot better but it's voice acting (not to be confused with sound quality) is worse and its cutscenes have some ridiculous things. Also, I read it hasn't been properly designed for the new features (hanging, first-person shooting and such) and that it is thus easier. I'm not saying it's a bad game and even if I wanted to I couldn't because I haven't played it but I'm saying it has only one superior part. And besides, the original MGS is original. Oh, and it would have cost money to do any changes to the games.

Personally I'd love to see MGS5 be situated in the time after MGS4. You might wonder why I'd want that but it's actually pretty simple. There's lots of potential in the time after the Patriots. Surely someone will try to get the power. Besides, I think I've already had enough of Big Boss. MGS4 even told pretty much everything necessary about him and in my opinion there's not much more to tell about him. As for what comes to The Boss, I think it would go too far in the past.

Ah, so it just doesn't have Metal Gear 1 and 2, along with all those bonus games and features. I played Twin Snakes, and the voices are closer to MGS4 than MGS1. For instance, Naomi used to have an accent. I enjoyed those more, but the cutscenes and graphics are better. The lack of challenge isn't really a problem since I knew exactly how to beat everything anyway, but I do see that as a big complaint. It's the same as MGS3 getting a new camera system in Subsistence, though. I'm just saying, that if the Essential collection isn't available that there is still the (arguably better) option of getting the originals.

No new MGS games period. Why is it that movie franchises end but gaming franchises are expected to go on for eternity?

Do we really need a Matrix 7 just for the heck of it? No. Should be the same with games.
