Yes yes i know this is another thread about the next XBOX but something has been on my mind latley and i wanted to know what all you very intelligent people on VGC thought about it

first off the xbox 360 had a pretty good launch but of course it had lots of hardware problems basically all of the launch 360s had some sort of trouble and it put the 360s failure rate at around 30% which is nothing to be happy about, but the new xbox prevailed and it still sold millions of consoles. good job for microsoft, but now here comes the question i have for you.

when microsoft launchs the next xbox maybe the xbox 720 will thier launch of the new system be damaged by the old 360s failure rate. what i mean is will people wait to purchase the new xbox will people still dwell on the past and wait maybe 6 months or even a year to make sure microsoft doesnt mess up again, and if this is so will this damage thier launch of the new console. we all know microsoft has stated they want to get a head start in the next generation of gaming i just hope hey do it right. I also hope they have a great start to there next system i think this is one of the best times to be a gamer and its good to see all 3 major systems doing well.

PS1 was pretty bad for hardware failures, and I'm pretty sure that didn't stop people from getting PS2.

The next Xbox will suffer a little from the reputation of the RRoD. It didn't completely kill their sales this generation though, so it won't be a huge problem. I think if it is out for 6 months and no one sees any one hardware problems with it, then RRoD fence sitters will consider it, if it is a good system.

Some people will do that.  I think that is a pretty wise decision to make with any console.  Not just for hardware problems, but for overall quality.  I let someone else be the sucker to test the hardware for me.  I didn't buy my 360 until April '07.  So, when I bought it, I knew what I was getting into.  I just bought an extended warranty through the store :D

lol i agree with you 100% i didnt buy my ps3 till november of 07 im happy with it i still wish i would of picked up a 360 but didint

PS1 was unreliable, people still bought the PS2 in mass from the beginning... PS2 was unreliable too, people didn't buy the PS3 in mass but I think it was for different reasons.

Conclusion - 360's unreliability won't stop a significant number of people from buying the next Microsoft console.

It might make some people wait a while, but most will just buy right away.

i always get my systems on launch day, i did it with all this gen's systems.

PS2 had a lot of hardware problems as well most peopel I know have gone through at least one within the first year or two of ownership in the PS2 fat models.
