Forums - Sales - Japan and the PS3

I was just curious where I could find a list of upcoming titles in Japan for the PS3. I'm interested in what other titles will have a MGS4 effect in Japan and can move some consoles.

What do you all think it will take to get the PS3 moving in Japan? What games might do it? And how long?

Gran Turismo 5?

I am guessing for japan we will see
this week 80k then
65k
55k
50k
45k
42k
40k
35k
30k
and it should stabilize at 25k.... I could very easily be wrong though. I'm no paid analyst.

They have the PS3 in Japan now?

Jokes.

In all seriousness though, there isn't really anything coming for either HD console for most of this year now (unless FFXIII makes it too December).

The 360 has Tales and Infinite Undiscovery, but we all know how many hundreds of thousands on Microsoft consoles they are going to shift in the East...

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Final Fantasy XIII will be the next one. Maybe RE5 too.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Unless FFXIII releases this year, MGS4 will be the biggest release this year in Japan.

Although I can think of Siren, Afrika and Tears of Tiara coming up in the next couple of months.

Use IE to view the page. Many are 発売日未定 (TBA).

They need a lot more games like 戦場のヴァルキュリア, 龍が如く, メタルギア ソリッド 4 before HD- and PS2-gamers in Japan gradually start to pay attention to an upcoming sku of 360 and the flood of JRPGs. Right now, only a very-nerdy segment is interested in 360. A lower price point + restored PS2 compatibility will help but they seem not viable at this moment. Once MH3 is released on Wii, however, it's going to be increasingly harder to compete with it.

No, it's not going to stop  'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop  So just ... give up

Truly the PS3 needs games in japan that can stabalize it at around 30-40k a week. The Big title boosts are great, but it's the medium titles in mass that stablize things. As others have said the next big game for Japan will Be FFXIII

Let's see if MH3 takes off on home consoles as the PS2 counterparts didn't sell nearly as well as the PSP ones.

Theres a rumor on GAF that FFXIII will release in Japan this winter. If thats true we could see Japan becoming Sony territory pretty quickly
