Well, they have a good reason. The numbers aren't always, 100% accurate. Although they'd be lying to themselves if they were claiming that NPD or another source was.

this is the original article they were referencing. id like to see a reply from VGChartz.

what it is people take numbers way to seriously. even if this website doesn't have sources. NPD doesn't have Wal-Mart. the biggest retailer in america. how can NPD numbers be any more reliable than VGChartz.

No need to take a shot at NPD here. They provide a wealth of information in one region and do it well. VGChartz and NPD can coexist peacefully.

NPD is a good service. The advantage with VCchartz is it is worldwide and weekly. NPD only covers the US. Second, we get to see data on more games instead of just the top 20 or so. Don't forget that Famitsu and Meadia Create are off from eachother too.

NPD may be more accurate, but slower and costs lots of money to get all the data. It is a good source for a business though. VGchartz is a good source as well. They are not mutually exclusive. Business likes having more information from more than one place.

Yeah, the main problem that gonintendo and other sites around the internet have with VGChartz and NPD is that they don't really understand what the numbers mean. They're expecting very accurate reports, not ballpark estimates. When the two estimates don't agree, or the publisher releases shipped numbers, they think they've been lied to.

Reading the comments below the posted story, many of the users find that VGC is pretty spot on and trust its findings. Which is nice to see, so maybe they wont have to see Weezy's wrath.
