yeah. if they release 2.36 now there's no way they'll put out 2.40 a week later, it wouldn't make sense. Because the 3.36 updates would be included in 2.40 anyway, planning to hold back on 2.40 for another month or so is probably their plan.

There is precedent for a temporary release before a bigger FW update:

2.17 was released 13 days before 2.20.

So this release does not necessarily mean a postponement of 2.40.

Dammit, I was really excited for a moment after I booted up my PS3 and saw the system update message, thinking it was the in-game XMB update.
