i had after we celebrated the dutch victory ( lots of beer involved )

a great conversation with my best friend ( believer ) and me ( non believer )

we were talking about how sience doesn't cover life and how the religion is based on pure faith

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I can understand religion, even though i myself don't believe in God or any other kind of super natural entity or places like heaven or hell. What i don't get is how people can easily get manipulated by "corporations" like the church or any kind of sect. it goes beyong my undeerstanding of the world and human psyche.

You might say that i believe rather in the "maker of your own fate" line. Sure that not everything will be given to me even if were to try my hardest, but we can do so much for ourselves if we just give that extra push, that it's a shame that most people don't notice it.

Huh. Who would've thought that beggining anew in my real life would coincide with starting anew on vgchartz?

Any day now, the dollar will be worth less than 2 zloty......any day now.....and my life savings will be in total jepordy ;(.

MKF i agree i used the make your own fate but he said but how pust us here the big bang?

I don't think anybody really knows, and due to that, I think it's easier for people just to believe that some amazing invisible man waved his hand and made it all happen.

I think that even though we don't yet have a scientific explanamtion, we will eventually.

We'll miss you George.

lol kirby007, are you still drunk?

I went to church for the first 18 years of my life, but i'm not religious now. Like in anything in life though i am respectful of everyone else's choice to think or believe as they choose as long as they don't try to force it on me or other people.

I find debating this often comes back to faith versus "cold hard facts". I find the whole believing in something on faith a bit hard for me (just the kind of person i am) and little bit of a convenience in organised religion, but my religious friends will kindly point out that science doesn't explain everything and that is where we often reach an impasse.

And yes, these conversations often involve beer;)

yeah but the hard facts start with the big bang and that is kinda a not hard fact

agree?

I think that every religion is wrong. What are the odds that one religion got it correct and the other 50 or so religions all got it wrong. I believe in the possibility of a higher being, but that if it does exist then it is not anything close to what religion depicts it as.

I think the God could exist, its just that we don't really have any solid evidence.
