Coming Soon = E3. Shame they have to make it a special event to get what should have been their a year ago.

In game XMB is the ability to access the menu interface without completely leaving the game. In hopes of doing this, it allows for users to use the message feature and the ability to see who is on (vs watching the screen for the pop ups of people of getting on and off PSN.)

Honestly, I would trade in game XMB for unifed voice chat but I guess this will have to do. Some of the best game that I thought would be great fun felt like crap without voice chat (UT3 and Hot Shot Golf)

Even unified voice chat wouldn't completely solve the problem.

Sony really screwed up by not putting a mic in the box like Microsoft did.

I for one think that the voice chat problem is not that big of a deal. Two of the biggest online games for PS3 (in my opinion) bring a bluetooth headset, Warhawk and Socom:Confrontation (obviously not released yet). I have like 3 bluetooth mics myself, yet I never use them. I just think that until Sony does add unified voice chat across all games like MS does, ppl wont stop complaining.

On Topic: Finally, ever since the rumors resurfaced, I been checking forums like crazy tryin to find any lil bit of info of in-game XMB. It could be that the rumors of an update coming the 18th and 26th are true, the 18th for 2.36 and the 26th for 2.4. That or what I had predicted comes true: announced at E3 and comes out a week or so after.

There is a video on youtube of the debug 2.40 firmware, running through the in-game XMB options and what it looks like in action.

Its about as exciting as you would expect.

They were already losing $200+ per console during launch. I say they screwed up by not giving the 512 RAM to at least the CPU. Ideally 512MB RAM to the CPU and another 512MB RAM to the GPU.

I don't know if they could've afforded that because of the BD disc at that time.

Now, can Wii owners start complaining about In-game messaging on the Wii?

I don't even know what Unified Voice Chat is, care to explain?

The ability to talk to people in rooms when you are not in game.  The console OS handles connecting to the chat servers and you transition into the game while talking.  It's a pretty cool feature, but not a deal breaker IMO cause I don't like to talk much anyway.  Only strategy stuff.  I also care less what people are doing at home so I hate hearing personal conversations.Having it in game kind of puts a mindset to people about the game and not some stupid football game that happens to be on.

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

Well if I got it right, unfied voice chat is that every game that has online, has voice chat. I believe there were a few (armored core comes to mind) that didn't have voice chat and be able to talk to ppl while ur in-game when they are not in the game.

this is one update I wont be pissed off to do :D

at last, this is fantastic news!
