I would reply about the epilogue but not everyone here has seen it yet. I am enjoying MGO though. Sneaking about and no cut scenes. I quite like it.

"MGS4 has all the features you would expect from an enhanced version,so you're just not a fan."
Others here have already expanded on why MGS4 does not, in fact, have all the features you would expect from an enhanced version. Some reviews have even lamented the lack of features over what some have come to expect from unenhanced versions.
"BTW,rich people don't get scammed period.=p"
Rich people get scammed all the time. The ones who don't get scammed are the smart people, and they avoid it by -among other things- avoiding obvious cheap ploys like the initial release of any MGS game after the second.

I enjoyed chapters 3 and 4 way more than 1 and 2: I thought that chapter one was a total disaster. The start was so simple I didn't feel I was playing. The scene with the Geckos was way too scripted. The little gear is annoying, and so is the monkey. The scene with the Rat Pack didn't really work due to poor AI. In the end, all I liked was a couple of cut scenes and the last two sneaking sections.
Chapter two was a little better, but still very generic. the boss fight was way too easy, but at least it was original. Following the trail was somewhat amusing, but the combat was lackluster. The cool fight scene is not interactive, which seems to be the staple of the game: If it's cool, you are just watching. Didn't Kojima play God of War?
So in the end, the series isn't moving forward one inch. The best Metal Gear was MGS, and it's been downhill from there.
I finished in 15 hours watching all cut scenes. Don't know if they count in the time given. I also spent a lot of time messing about in Act 1 + 2. I was having a lot of fun sneaking up on enemies for perfect headshots.

My PS3 arrives next week and this is the only game i intend to get so far.... (maybe uncharted too).. but i dont fancy paying £40 for 6 hours of gameplay and 10 hours of cut scenes... someone tell me.. |
There is roughly 9 hours of cutscenes and the playtime depends on your skill level and style of gameplay. On average it's around 6-7 hours though.
Firstly I want to say that I loved the game and its easily the best game ive played tis gen,but it does have some problems. The acts1 2 and half of 3 were brilliant and inthe second half of 3 had a weak on rails section. The final cutscene in act 3 was also quite well done.Act 4 was outstanding IMO.When i got to the helipad and ?The Best Is yet to come? started playing i was in gaming heaven. Then there was act 5 which poor b@b fight and a final battle that could of been great if it didnt have those stupid button promt moves.Anyway despite this mgs4 was my favourite in the series until THAT ending. It has to be the worst ending ever. Its like Kojima felt he had to put a twist in at the end and just did so despite it ruining the plots of the previous games, and just to make things worse he writes some of the most gibberishy (is that a word?) dialogue ever.

6-7 hours ...that doesnt sound like much to me... Gears and Halo 3 got slated by ps3 fans for similar.

It's not bad for an MGS game. Unlike Gears and Halo the draw of this franchise is the storyline. The gameplay plays second fiddle here and keeping that in mind the improvements made and decent length simply add to the overall value.
Do you guys really think the playtime is down around 6-7 hours? I expect to finish the game around 15 hours and at least 50% of that seems to be play time. It was 80% playtime early in the game and now it seems down around 20% play time... Overall, I think it all averages out to around 50%.
I don't see the point in bashing this game's length. It offers an enjoyable enough experience where I never got too upset about it. Plus, it has MGO if that's your thing.

I've played so little of the other Metal Gears that I mine as well not played them at all. For players like me there should be some sort of recaps for the previous games. May seem silly to some, but its better than going into the game knowing nothing. I'll still check it out, but I'm sure I will not enjoy it as much as I could if I knew the story.
