For those of you who don't keep up much on PC hardware and particularly those who go on and on about the power of the cell, read and understand.

If you remember, the PS3 and most of the other consoles are stuck with GPUs 2 generations old.  The benchmarking results clearly indicate that boosts in CPU buy you a bit but the limiting factor in gaming performance today is from the GPU.  The cell can be as powerful as the most powerful PC CPU today but it'll always be stuck with GeForce7 level performance and GPU is where the real performance gains are coming from.

 

Yes, this was inspired by the MGS4 being better than Crysis thread.

Seriously, are there any users in here who do not know about this vast leap in performance from consoles to top-spec PC's? I sure hope not...

There are (unfortuately) quite a few and many of them pretend to have a clue as to what they're talking about (*cough*MikeB*cough*)

In theory PC graphics are better, but you can see the difference only in a few games.

Actually you can see in any game - higher resolution, more detail, smoother frame rates for the multiplatform games and for the exclusives you have an even bigger leap. Read Crysis, Witcher, Stalker etc.
