Forums - Sales - Interesting trend after PS3

its normal that overall sales go down after december and towards the summer.

What you are missing here is that the Wii is undersupplied. If it would be freely available you would see that it sales would have dropped too. So there is no real correlation between consoles, consumers like it or they dont.

In Belgium newspapers do however report the PS3 as a failure, and most articles are about the Wii or Wii games. But mind that they only write like 100 words per week on it, thats not much.
Popular stores do occasionally have a sign with "no wii's available" at the window. (it's rather "Wij hebben geen Nintendo Wii op stock" but hey ;) )

I think we should all wait for the christmas season, then we will see if the PS3 still stands a chance or is bringing the exclusive "duke nukem: forever".

"because that means you have to get all the consoles to play all the good games."

Hasn´t it been like this for a long time now?....anyway,the "answer" would be to have only one console that plays all games, but this isn´t happening anytime soon....but I wonder how things would be,I remember an interview with some publishers and devs on gamesindustry.biz where some of them think it´ll eventually happen, they said it´d work more or less like the DVD player market.

@nintendo_fanboy

i agree that it would definately be much more expensive if you had to get every good title for every system but isn't it pretty much the same right now. There would probably be a few more big titles every year but other than that you still have to put in a lot of money to get all the good titles on all 3 consoles.

Well, gaming is an expensive hobby....for those who can´t afford all 3 systems + their games and/or for those who can but don´t want to own 3 different systems,it´s become more important than ever to be really sure about which system is the right one,the right one for your tastes, and it´s really important to make up your own mind about it and not let other people make the decision for you...one thing I notice on a few forums is the huge amount of people easily swayed by others´opinions.

Sort of surprises me how much better the 360 is doing in the UK than the PS3.

Is Uk the only place in Europe where the 360 is doing very well?

All I know is that here in Canada, we sold the 6 Wii's we just got in less than a day. And we've had PS3's in stock since March, and the last time we sold out of 360's was at Christmas.

In fact, the PS3 hype is still important in Europe
This is strange considering that the PS3 was release 3 month (about) after the NA and japanese release, we could have expected that european players will punish Sony but NO, they don't.
And as Xbox360 and PS3 are competing for the same market, the 2 sales nbrs are linked.
It can also be explan with the fact that Xbox360 is made by M$ and that european don't like them.

At the opposite, PS3 is losing the NA market ...

And for the Japan, PS3 and Xbox360 both don't sell very well even if PS3 is second (behind the wii) and will stay at this place (my opinion)

I don't see much PS3 hype in the European countries I know, except during the launch (I was born in Portugal and work in Denmark). I see fanboys hyping the console of course, but I also see people who are waiting to see what happens, and who are having more and more doubts on whether they should really buy a PS3 even if they have the money.

People are aware that the PS3 may sink, and they're more and more aware that they should wait to see how it does in terms of games.

Today, I was in a relatively big electronics shop (Merlin, in Denmark) and this is what I saw:

- The 360 had an area of dedicated to its games, PS3 didn't.

- The PS3 had an area dedicated to its accessories, PS3 didn't.

- The PSP games section was filled with Wii games (they'll probably rename it soon).

- Finally I saw a Wii in stock there, for the first time, the PS3 always was.

- The PS2 was quite well represented, of course.

- They have some THIS IS LIVING marketing stuff spread throughout the shop, however as you can see above, they seem to care less and less about the PS3 and PSP.

"Today, I was in a relatively big electronics shop (Merlin, in Denmark) and this is what I saw:"

==> 1 shop ! omg so representative

"- The 360 had an area of dedicated to its games, PS3 didn't.
- The PS3 had an area dedicated to its accessories, PS3 didn't."

==> I don't know maybe people that lead this shop don't like PS3

"they seem to care less and less about the PS3 and PSP. "

==> But who care of this shop man ?

What I just say that comparativly to USA, "gamers" still hope that PS3 games/price cut are coming
I never stated that they are buying PS3 !
I saied that considering how PS3 is expensive (pzrticularly in Europe) AND how PS3 possess really less game than Xbox360, the PS3 is still NOT outcompeted by Xbox360 in europe.
I saied that people are waiting and are not switching to next gen console (except for Wii ofc!)
Personnaly, I call this "a hype resistance"
At the oppsite, I think that in USA people ask themselve less question about buying a Xbox360 ...

Do you see my point ?

For example,
In North american forum, there are many people defending Xbox360 interest, hoping for MGS4/FFXIII coming on their console etc ...
In european site, and at least, french site, it is more equilibrate
People say that Sony has made pretty big shit with their PS3 but they don't want to buy a Xbox360 and they still hope that things will change
There are Xbox360 owners/defenders but they are less present

Is someone able to get the weekly sells of the PS3/Xbox360 in "PAL" country ?
