The day in question is Friday. 

I went to work early since I am going on vacation to Japan for two weeks.  I don't think I've mentioned that before, but yeah.  So I'm trying to wrap up loose ends because I'm leaving over the weekend. 

Then around 12:30 I get a call saying, "oh yeah, by the way, we decided to let you go and you have to leave the building now."  The guy who made the call was literally surprised that the person they had escort me out of the building wasn't there yet. 

It wasn't a great job, so I'm not that broken up about it, but I am a little annoyed at the amount of notice I was given. 

So, any of you suckers know some cool places to visit in Nagasaki?

Oh yeah:  and "over the weekend" means in about four hours starting at the timestamp.

Ah, sorry to hear about your job >.< Kind of a weird way to get rid of someone.

I haven't been to Japan yet^^; So y'know, no recommendations. Very cool though! I hope you enjoy your time in Japan :3 Are you gonna buy a bunch of cool electronics and games and stuff?

Oh also the Oura Tenshu i've heard is neat.

It's the oldest Christian Church in Japan. Old churches look awsome.

I saw one in Montrael... and as a bonus they had an archaelogical dig in the basement.

Yeah, he even asked if he needed to stay on the phone to make sure I behaved.  I said something like "no I don't think that's necessary". 

On the other hand the guy before me was only there for four months and I was only there for two.  With that kind of revolving door even taking pens and paper would add up!

I haven't been to Nagasaki, but last August I backpacked around Japan and rode the rails for 3 weeks. Internet cafes are everywhere in the cities, and you can just hop onto www.wikitravel.com and type in whatever city you're in and get instant food and tourist recommendations from other travelers Wikistyle. And if you can't find a room, you can sleep over in most internet cafes for really cheap.

As for what I plan to bring back:

My brother and I agreed that I should get him "something seemingly aimed at, yet clearly inappropriate for, children" (e.g. Hello Kitty cigarettes or condoms). My friend, whom I'm going with and who has been to Japan before (and who is goint to be my personal translator ), estimates that about five minutes of looking around a store should do it.
