Yep, that's why MS grew in 20 years more than several times of what sony grew in 50.
Ah, and so far the ps3 is still the 3rd place.

Yeah, the handheld market is Nintendo's turf. Sony is lucky the PSP has done as well as it has and should be proud. The PSP has been profitable, but not by that much.
I don't see why MS thinks there is room for a third in the handheld market. All they will be doing is digging themselves a financial hole. They don't have the software development resources for it either.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I'm posting in reference to their gaming division.
And so far the 360 has been outsold by both the Wii and PS3 since Januaray , the PS3 has sold faster than the 360 ( ignoring the differences in launch date) at this rate factoring holiday+software sales the 360 will not only be the 3rd best seller this year but 3rd console overall.

Just because your suits your argument? Fact is, as far as business goes MS has shamed sony, growing up to several times the japanese manufacturer's size in a couple decades. But oh hey, sony is doing passably better on a residual division within the context of both companies. Alas! MS might be winning the match but sony has had the ball the most time between the minute 70 and 72!
And as far as the console race goes, sure the ps3 has been doing good these last months but just as sony's machine turned it's luck at the tail end of 2007, there's no reason why 360 can't do the same. Oh yes, wait there is one: you support sony and not MS. Still, even with the supposedly improved performance of the ps3 we are looking at late 2009 or 2010 until the sorpasso happens. Until it happens, sony is the third and sure is enjoying it.
BTW, how is sony enjoying being the last on the handheld market, tens of millions behind the DS?

I see MS going after the DS, not the PSP. The only reason they went after the Sony, was it was the console making all the money.
MS follows the money, and the money is in the DS. That being said, MS will probably never release a handheld. They need to figure out there rapidly declining OS user base thing before they dump a few billion into a new industry.

They've screwed their OS business so bad with Vista. Linux is all the rage and OSX appears to be in fashion again.

That was my argument from the begining !!!
I wasn't trying to proove Sony was more profitable than Microsoft (and with all the alternatives in microsoft core markets , Linux , OSX , FireFox , Google , Yahoo I wouldn't bet too much on MS's long term growth.) Like I stated before I was strictly speaking in reference to the gaming industry ( I shoudln't have to emphasise that too much considering the site we're on)
And like I said before the PS3 has sold faster than the XBOX 360 , it perfomed better than the 360 since launch with less software support , the XBOX 360 is dead in japan even with far more current and future support, the XBOX 360 is about to loose it's lead in Europe the PS3 , The only major market the 360 has is the NA and that could also be lost by '09 .
BTW I should think they are pretty happy considering it's profitability their looking at not marketshare , 35 Million consoles , currently the best selling gaming device in Japan , i'd say they aren't too bitter right now.

Interestingly enough you didn't mention what was the stretch of your argument until it was challenged. You might not like it, but Microsoft didn't grew to be one of the biggest companies of the world leaving sony in the dust and made bill gates multibillionare coming third anywhere.
The 360 is as dead in japan as the ps3 is, albeit i might be willing to admit the ps3's corpse isn't as rotten yet. The fact that you can't recognize that fact in this site where you can compare the ps3 performance in japan, which it still is below gamecube (a total failure in japan) levels is nothing but the red flag that marks you as a blind fanboy.
Ah, sure sony is happy right now... even with the revenue coming from the psp and the ps2, the ps3 is still dragging the whole division down into the deep pits of red ink while the "coming third, lol" 360 is driving up into profitability the E&D division of MS.
But hey, it's nice that you have that morale, you'll need it as the ps3 is losing japanese dev support. I'm sure the japanese company sony is happy their own neighbours prefer siding with the gaijin.
